I absolutely love him!! It was my first time and I would love to go again. Very nice and calm office, he talks to you and make you feel comfortable. I had no worries there. Refreshments were given and staff were extremely nice! I will never go to another OB-Gyn ever again!!

Dr. Alam opened his obstetrics and gynecology practice in Westfield and Summit, NJ in 1981, and has been in practice since that time. His physicians office is currently located on Springfield Avenue in Summit, NJ. Dr. Alam has a growing practice due to the fact that he genuinely cares about his patients; he has a very calm and soothing manner and will go the extra mile to be able to help them in whatever way they may need.
Dr. Alam trained at LSU for 2 years and was chief resident at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in New York City. He has been on the attending staff at Overlook Hospital since opening his practice in New Jersey. He also serviced as the Vice-Chief and then Chief of the Department at Overlook Hospital from 1992-1996 and is board certified in OB-GYN.
The New Yorker Magazine recognized Dr. Alam as one of the Top Doctor’s in the Tri-State area. He was also awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2005 in recognition of his charity and philanthropic works around the world.
Dr. Alam is very involved in helping people in countries who have little or no availability of medical care. He has traveled to Haiti many times to do gynecological surgery. He has literally operated from sunup to sundown. Once, in the middle of an unfinished surgery, the electricity went off and the surgery had to be finished under flashlights only.

I got an annual exam and a consultation for an IUD. I had researched birth control in advance and decided on an IUD. Alam dissuaded me against getting. It seemed like he had no idea about the progress IUD's have made since the 1970's. He said they are dangerous and they are "huge" therefore not suitable for women who haven't had a child. He pulled out a paraguard IUD (the largest type, I wanted the smallest type) from his drawer to show me how "huge" it is and explained that it would be too painful for me to insert. I felt like he didn't feel comfortable inserting it so he was making up excuses not to do it. I went to a woman OBGYN shortly after and she inserted the IUD, which wasn't painful in the slightest and has worked great for me for over a year.
