Adam Silver is an Osteopathic physician who specializes in Osteopathic Manipulation and Cranial-Sacral therapy and completed his training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R, i.e. Physiatry) at the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation, New York University Medical Center. PM&R physicians are nerve, muscle, and bone experts who diagnose and treat injuries or illnesses that affect how you move. They manage chronic and acute pain conditions and sports injuries using a variety of non-surgical approaches, from the use of pain medications to performing non-interventional techniques such as soft tissue and joint injections. Dr. Silver was drawn to the specialty due to its emphasis on looking at the whole person and not just one symptom or condition.
Dr Silver has experience and training in both conventional and alternative approaches to pain management and musculoskeletal dysfunction and disease. As an Osteopathically trained Physician, Dr. Silver has a keen understanding of physical anatomy and the biomechanics of the body. He is an expert at using various manual medicine techniques including cranial osteopathy which supports his holistic approach to physical rehabilitation. Dr. Silver has had great success in treating a variety of physical conditions such as, chronic neck and back pain, fibromyalgia and migraine headaches with these techniques. What is most impressive about Dr. Silver is that he takes the time to “think out of the box” when it comes to patient care. For some patients, Osteopathic Manipulation, Medical Acupuncture and several sessions of Physical Therapy may be the winning treatment. For others, however, with more degenerative conditions such as Osteoarthritis, Dr. Silver is trained to do ultrasound guided joint injections, prolotherapy, trigger point injections and peripheral nerve blocks, as needed. Further, Dr. Silver is an expert at diagnosing simple and complex neuromuscular diseases using Electrodiagnostic and Nerve Conduction studies.
