Dr. Alan M. Richards holds a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Hearing Science/Audiology from the Graduate Center, City University of New York. He is licensed to practice audiology by the New York State Education Department. He holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), is a Fellow in the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), and is also Board Certified in Audiology from the The American Board of Audiology.
Dr. Richards has had extensive teaching and research experience as both a Professor of Audiology at City University of New York and as a researcher in the Hearing
Sciences. He has published two textbooks in hearing and research methods and has a significant number of peer-reviewed research publications.
Dr. Richards is presently an Adjunct Professor in the Speech-Language- Hearing Doctoral (Ph.D.) Program, Graduate
Center, City University of New York.
Dr. Richards began his career in hearing science/audiology at the US Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory, then went on to be a professor at CUNY as well as enter into private practice. His private practice experience includes ownership of Madison Audiology Associates in Manhattan for over 30 years as well as North Shore Audiology.
The goal of the practice is to provide a caring and personal atmosphere to those experiencing loss of hearing or balance issues.
When considering hearing instruments, the goal is to obtain an unbiased assessment of the patients needs and lifestyle.
