Dr. Cuellar was very insightful when it came telling me what was wrong with my knee. He gave me a recommended of course of action and I will have a follow up in a week. Hopefully that will answer any remaining questions I have.

My visit with Dr. Cuellar was excellent! Before I came in, I was very depressed and overwhelmed with my situation. I felt as if no one understood the pain I was in. But right away, within seconds of talking to him, he expressed his sympathy for my situation and told me he understood my pain and that it was okay for me to feel how I felt. That understanding he displayed really helped me to gather my emotions and gain control over my situation. Just knowing someone really understood my pain. And who better than the Doctor himself! Sometimes as a patient a little sympathy can be just as good as any medicine. I left Dr. Cuellar's office with my faith restored and head up high!! For the first time in years....I'm feeling like I've finally grabbed this bull by the horns. I haven't felt this confident about my situation ever before! Thank you Doc!! Thank you for your compassion and your great people skills!! I wish all doctors could be like you. God bless you. You are truly one of God's helpers!

Dr. Albert D. Cuellar is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A & M University with a degree in Bioengineering, then went on to medical school at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He completed his Internship in General Surgery and his Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at UTMB. He also did a Preceptorship and one year Fellowship in Adult Joint Reconstruction at Presbyterian Hospital/Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.
Dr. Cuellar's interest in bioengineering is what led him to the practice of orthopaedics. "Ever since college it's kind of been a quest to apply my strengths in mechanics and engineering to the science and art of medicine," says Dr. Cuellar . "Orthopaedics combines both these skill sets. It's a very natural specialty to utilize those skills and that knowledge base.When someone has a broken bone, it is important to understand the mechanism of injury and the mode of failure in order to determine the most effective repair."
Dr. Cuellar uses his bioengineering skills to help achieve optimum results for his patients. While many of his patients have suffered some sort of traumatic injury like a complex fracture, his subspecialty is joint reconstruction necessitated by an ongoing degenerative process like arthritis.
"There's lots of mechanics in joint replacement surgery," Dr. Cuellar says."Total joint replacement has improved the lives of many, many people to the point where some of them who have been significantly disabled are now pain free and functioning in society again. That's the result of technology, all the little innovations that are continuing to come out allow me to tackle some very complex orthopaedic problems that otherwise in the past have had no good solutions."
