Alexander Boulos, MD, MPH, AAHIVS is a highly qualified doctor providing comprehensive LGBTQ+ focused healthcare services including HIV management, pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP/PEP) for HIV prevention, gender-affirming care for transgender and gender diverse patients (including gender-affirming hormone therapy and pre-surgical clearance for gender-affirming surgeries), LGBTQ+ focused cancer screenings and vaccinations, diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and anal cancer screenings with HPV co-testing. Dr. Boulos was awarded his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC and completed his Preventive Medicine residency program, as well as his LGBTQ+ Medicine fellowship program from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. Dr. Boulos was also rewarded with a certification as an HIV Specialist from the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM). He is proficient in both English and Haitian Creole.

I had an appointment at 8am and they called me at 7:58am (aka 2 minutes before) to let me know the doctor was out and my appointment had to be cancelled. When I arrived at the office 2 minutes later, they refused to book me so I could see someone else. I planned my whole day around this appointment.
Highly unreliable and unprofessional. The waiting area was also quite dirty and had a weird smell.

I've been on the search for good primary doctor ever since I moved to New York and have always been disappointed. My experience with Dr. Boulos was good. I arrived early to my appointment and barely had to wait. Everyone there was friendly and professional. As a new patient Dr. Boulos took his time to check on my history and see if I had any concerns. I was there my annual physical and didn't have many questions but he was attentive to the few thing I brought up. I'd go back to him for future visits and hopefully continue to build a rapport with him as a my primary.

Everybody here was so kind and helpful, but Nurse Cathy really is the star of the show! I’ve never laughed so much at a doctors appointment, which really put my anxiety at ease. Dr. Boulos was attentive, patient, and a great listener. Quick and efficient, but I didn’t feel rushed out of there, even with my appointment being at the end of his day. He easily and happily gave me referrals to specialists that I had asked for, offered to refill medications from previous doctors, and asked a lot of thoughtful questions about my complicated medical history.

I really enjoyed my appointment with Dr. Boulos. I was able to reach out to him via Mount Sinai message platform prior to my appointment and that helped ensure a smooth visit.
Sadly, it's very rare that a doctor is open to answering any questions that you have. In his description, Dr. Boulos encourages that you bring a notebook, pen and questions, if you have any. That approach is very refreshing. I left feeling heard, at ease/taken care of.

Not sure if Doctor Boulos was just frazzled or overwhelmed, but he barely listened to a thing I said and couldn’t remember details about my health history from two minutes prior in our conversation. For an annual physical, did not feel listened to or taken care of whatsoever.
