Exceptional Academic History:
Dr. Fazel is double board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine. He received his gastroenterology training at Saint Louis University. He also completed additional fellowship training in Advanced Endoscopy at Medical College of Wisconsin. His internal medicine training was completed at Wright State University, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society.
Professional History:
• Prior to moving to Northern Virginia, he served as Assistant Professor and Program Director for Advanced Endoscopy at the University of Florida. He has been recognized nationally for his work in the area of complex endoscopic procedures. His research has been published in multiple journals. He has presented numerous lectures at national and regional meetings.
• He established his full time gastroenterology practice at Greater Washington Gastroenterology in 2005. Dr Fazel has served as Chief of Gastroenterology at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. He founded the Center for Advanced Endoscopy at Inova Fairfax Hospital in 2007, where he served as Medical Director.
• Washingtonian Magazine has named him one of the “Top Doctors in Washington”. Northern Virginia Magazine also profiled him as one of the “Top Doctors of Northern Virginia”.
• He presently serves as an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine for Virginia Commonwealth University.
