Proactively listened and although she could not take me right now for my reasons she left me off with encouraging and uplifting words that made the rest of my day. Would highly recommend.

More about Dr. Alicia Batson, MD

**THIS PROVIDER DOES NOT TREAT ADHD** Dr. Batson is a board-certified adult psychiatrist who has been in practice for over 20 years. At the heart of Dr. Batson’s approach to clinical care is a deep understanding, both professionally and personally, of the effects of trauma and stress or our brains, our bodies and our lived experience. She helps every patient understand the events that have led them to where they are and to find the path to recovery for strength and healing. While Dr. Batson’s professional career has spanned the breadth of mental health care, she specializes in helping patients who suffer from the debilitating effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety disorders such as generalized anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive behaviors, phobias and depressive disorders. Many of these patients also suffer from debilitating physical conditions such as chronic pain, muscle tension, headaches, gastrointestinal symptoms and other physical manifestations of a chronically activated stress response. Dr. Batson’s experience has taught her that these conditions can be treated, and even cured, with a tailored approach of psychopharmacology and mind-body psychotherapeutic approaches to healing. Dr. Batson received a bachelor’s degree in European Studies from Vanderbilt University, a medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center and completed a combined internal medicine and psychiatry residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She is board-certified by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Batson enjoys meeting new patients and looks forward to learning your Life Story. When not at work, she enjoys all things outdoors - gardening, hiking, biking, adventure travel and learning about the natural world.

Alicia Batson, MD was very thorough and efficient. I appreciated her directness and professionalism. She was incredibly knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

It was awful. We went through the whole appointment and then she told me she couldn't help me and probably no one could, but she'd try to find someone to take my case. It was super frustrating and disheartening as I have been trying to find a psychiatrist for more than 6 months. Now, not only do I have to keep looking, but I have to pour my heart out to another stranger in the hopes that he/she will help me fix my meds.

I didn't have a babysitter to watch my 2 and a half year old. she told me about 5 min into the tele meeting that she couldn't focus with a screaming child and a mother not helping her child. she was very rude and hateful. will not ever see her again.

Great. No stress nor intimidation.

I highly recommend Dr. Batson as a psychiatrist. From the very first session, she created a safe and supportive environment that allowed me to feel comfortable opening up to her. Dr. Batson is an exceptional listener who truly cares about her patients' well-being. I am grateful for her compassionate approach and look forward to continuing my treatment with her.
