Dr. Amsterdam received her B.A. from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Between receiving her undergraduate degree and entering medical school, Dr. Amsterdam spent three years working in clinical trials at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. She went on to receive her M.D. from the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. where she was inducted into the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society. She completed internship at the New York University Downtown Hospital and residency at the New York University Medical Center, both in New York City. Immediately afterwards, she returned to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center where she completed a two year fellowship in women’s health in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology. During that time, she co-authored several articles focusing on the general medical care of cancer patients, survivors, and those at increased-risk for malignancy. Dr. Amsterdam has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine since 2003 and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Due to her efforts, in early 2010 Manhattan Internal Medicine, PLLC was accepted into the New York City Department of Health’s prestigious Primary Care Information Project. In her spare time, Dr. Amsterdam teaches students and house-staff with Mount Sinai Medical Center’s Psychiatry Consult Liaison Service, partakes of indoor cycling and has been an avid photographer for over twenty years.

Dr. Amsterdam was a pleasure to visit. It was my first time at her office, so she sat with me for 10 minutes or so to get to know me and ask me questions about my personal health situation before my exam. Was a much better experience than filling out pages and pages of new patient forms. Definitely recommend.

My appointment with Dr. Amsterdam far exceeded my expectations. This was my first time seeing Dr. Amsterdam and she took the time to speak with me directly about my medical history and about any concerns that I have. I feel that she is very knowledgeable and well equipped to handle my medical care. I am not one who generally submits a review of services provided however this visit was exemplary and therefore I highly recommend Dr. Amsterdam.

Dr. Amsterdam was a breath of fresh air compared to most general practitioners. She spent time upfront just speaking to her new patients. She spoke about her services, the support you should expect to receive from the office, and the intention to make her patients feel healthy. She was incredibly knowledgeable in many areas of specialty (thyroid, cardiology) and was able to suggest an array of top physicians if there was a need.
Dr, Amsterdam seemed to find great joy in being able to find solutions to her patient's problems. She was clear on why she did or did not like a treatment or drug. Her approach was sincere, thorough, and caring.

Dr. Amsterdam is an excellent GP, with wide knowledge of medical issues & treatments. She is very personable, with great bedside manner, and I never feel rushed even when the office is busy. As an older guy with older guy medical issues, I wasn't sure about going to a female doctor, but she has been great -- I've always felt comfortable and confident that she knows as much as any male doctor I've had. Dr. A is also great with referrals, and I've been positively impressed by the physicians she has referred me to.
The ladies in her office are also very nice, and getting refills etc. is always easy.

This was my first visit with Dr. Amsterdam and my first physical in a few years. She is all around great. She was very thorough, sitting down for 20-25 minutes with me to start talking through our backgrounds (both of us!) and then walking through my family tree and personal medical history. She was attentive and didn't rush me or the interview at all.
When we moved into the exam room, she was quick in action, but polite and communicative. I was amazed how quickly we got blood drawn, a booster and an exam done. Her team was incredibly sweet and polite, too. I'm a huge fan of Dr. Amsterdam!

She is concerned with every element of your wellness, asks great questions and really wants to understand your lifestyle too which is really important to me. I was almost deterred by the one negative review, but she is a wonderful doctor! She makes sure she gets a full picture of your health, she is extremely thorough, and her office is efficient and has a great online system. You can tell she really cares about your wellbeing! Definitely give her a visit!

I was very disappointed with my visit to see Dr. Amsterdam after all of the positive reviews that I had read on ZocDoc. There is a lack of communication between the doctor's office and the patient. I came to see the doctor for a serious medical issue, but found her to be uncaring and rude. (She repeated herself multiple times.) I wouldn't recommend her to anyone if you actually have a serious medical problem that needs to be addressed. I think it's inappropriate to call a patient after 9:30pm regarding an appointment, considering that some people wake up at 5am in the morning.

Everybody was very friendly at the office. It wasn't long before I was seen. Dr. Amsterdam took time to go over what she does and what her office provides and took notes for my background information. She was through and efficient and I felt properly attended to.

Was my first visit, so we sat for 15 minute to chat prior to exam, which I liked.;While I'm a healthy guy, everyone is unique and it demonstrated that she understand patients are customer first. Exam was thorough and she demonstrated an understanding that patients live outside the office, rather than 'lab rats' in a vacuum.
They have an online system, for records and communication (love) but she makes clear that we both use the phone if anything needs serious attention.
Staff are both kind and efficient.
I have found my NYC doc after 12+ years of 1-off appointments.
Go see her - you will be happy you did!

Wow. WOW! I am simply blown away. Dr. Amsterdam is fantastic. I want to speak in superlatives. This was my first physical in a while, and I was on the nervous side. I'm pretty healthy--just an anxious patient. Dr. Amsterdam and her staff were just stellar. Everything was explained, I was never rushed, and the bedside manner was amazing. I really appreciated the thorough exam, and the conservative approach. Any issue was met with a relaxed response--never an alarmist push to run to another doctor or jump on the prescription bandwagon. If things could be addressed with other approaches, we discussed those approaches. Also, a very fat-friendly and LGBTQ-friendly office and experience. There were no assumptions, just open questions. Very cool. Can't say enough good things!!!
