Alyson Yashar, MD graduated from Brown University and NYU School of Medicine, where she was president of her class. She completed an internship in internal medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital. She performed her eye surgery training at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. Dr. Yashar completed a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology, also at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, and simultaneously received additional training in oculoplastics. She is presently an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at NYU School of Medicine and teaches at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Neuro-ophthalmology has a diagnostic and medical focus, concentrating on diseases like Multiple Sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, double vision, decreased vision, brain tumors, and unexplained visual loss. Many patients are co-managed by their neurologist, rheumatologist, or internist.
In addition to providing general eye care, Dr. Yashar also focuses on LASIK, cataract surgery, eyelid surgery -- both cosmetic and functional -- as well as eyelid tumors and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Yashar is credentialed to perform LASIK for myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.

Office visit was great. Everything was explained in detail and in layman's terms. I now fully understand what is going on with my mom's condition. We went to Dr. yashar for a second opinion and so far, I am impressed. There is a tremendous gap in the service we received from the first ophthalmologist we went to compared to the service we received from Dr. Yashar's office. The visit felt personal and not rushed. Dr. Yashar was very professional. However, I have to comment on the demeanor of their front desk personnel. No PR and no personality. It pains her to effort a smile at least.

I had the first appointment of the day at 8:00. I saw the doctor walk in at 8:15, but she didn't see me until 8:50. She said she was late because of a "meeting". I guess she didn't know I saw her walk in.
Then she kept cleaning the office with alcohol wipes saying that it wasn't clean. And she kept talking to me like I was a child. And I've had contacts for many years - but this appointment took forever. I did not like her demeanor.

The doctor ran on time; I was in the room having preliminary tests within 10 minutes; doctor examined me thoroughly; she was pleasant; and when she was 'with me', she was "with me" not talking to others, reviewing other files or taking phone calls. Very pleasant experience. I highly recommend her.

It's a very busy office, a bit cramped for space. Everyone is multi-tasking. We saw both doctors, who were courteous, efficient, and professional. The large staff of assistants tended to be brusque and grim, perhaps a little impatient, but not rude. Not fun, but who goes to the doctor for fun? The examination was very thorough.
