Amanda Michael, MD is an Assistant Professor and General Neurologist in the Department of Neurology at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Dr. Michael received her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She completed a neurology residency at Saint Louis University.
Her clinical interests include managing a breadth of neurological conditions. Dr. Michael has a special interest in headache disorders and multiple sclerosis. She sees patients in the neurology outpatient clinic and attends the stroke and general neurology inpatient services.

The staff usually gets you back to the exam room close to your scheduled appointment time, but it can take quite a while before the doctor sees you. I've waited from 20 minutes up to an hour for an exam that usually takes less than 15 minutes.
Dr. Tinsley is very nice, but always seems rushed and running from one thing to the next. I know the office sees a lot of patients, but it sometimes feels to me like I'm being hustled out of the office. She will also give you lots of office numbers to call in case of issues with medications or symptoms. But on the occasions I've tried to get in contact with her assistant or with her, it's HARD to get through or get a call-back.
If you're just looking for a doctor for the basics, or to run in and out for office appointments, she is fine. If you have a more complicated condition and think you might have follow-up questions or need someone you can get in touch with easily, I wouldn't necessarily recommend her. The office is just way too busy for that kind of personal care.

While the wait was a lot longer than expected, the staff were very courteous and helpful. Dr. Tinsley was also outstanding. There was no rushing or feeling pressured for time, and she answered my many questions and offered good follow up steps and additional points of contact for use later on. I'm very glad to have found her and look forward to continuing to see her for my future appointments.

Dr Michael was great, I've had to see over two dozen doctors this year and she was easily among the very best. My only complaint has nothing to do with her; the admin check-in/out staff were not kind or helpful.

I didn't have much interaction with Amanda. I was seen by the resident but he took a very long time to go over everything. After he would ask me questions he would go to Amanda to summarize everything but he would go to the hallway and talk super loud so not only would I be able to hear it (the door was closed) but I am sure other people heard my personal information as well. I don't recommend going here if you are in a rush.

Dr. Amanda Michael was very attentive during the exam and asked lots of questions to try to get to the bottom of the cause of my headaches. She explained the treatment options very thoroughly and didn't pressure me one way or the other.
The staff got me into an exam room right away - zero time in the waiting room.

Dr. Michael is the first neurologist I've seen who I actually felt listened to me, cared about me, & wants to find solutions. I've suffered from migraines for 20+ years, and most doctors I've seen belittle & minimize my symptoms & how disabling migraines can be. Dr. Michael was incredibly compassionate, acknowledged my health concerns & has a treatment plan.
