Dr. Amoolya Rao earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry. She completed residency in Primary Eye Care and Ocular Disease through the New York VA Healthcare System in association with the SUNY college of Optometry.
During her clinical and residency training, she worked closely with specialists in Ophthalmology and gained vast experience in the diagnosis and management of cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, uveitis, and retinal vascular disorders.
Dr. Rao's areas of expertise include comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fittings, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases.
In her free time, she enjoys practicing yoga, traveling, and singing.

I would absolutely recommend Dr. Rao at Coastal Eye Surgeons to anyone looking for a new doctor. I have been seeing Dr. Rao for a few years now and I couldn't imagine going to any other eye doctor. She is friendly, easy to talk to, and is always able to give very good, non-biased advice and direction when it comes to my eye health and care. I am very thankful to have found her in my search for a new eye doctor a few years back and will definitely be sticking with her for the foreseeable future.
