Never have I been treated like this by an eye doctor, or any doctor at all, or a doctor's office staff. I'm new to DC, and unfortunately had an extremely red eye. I went in for a 10:30 appointment, and arrived at 10:31. Filled out paperwork. Waited. And waited. At 11:19am, I went back up to the front, and said, um, I had a 10:30? And the lady who had checked me in, taken my license, etc., said, What's the last name? (Really? Guess too much time had passed for her to remember.) Someone wound up calling me back a few minutes later. The assistant did not seem too knowledgable about the subject, and gave me a vision test. After that, she told me to sit back down and that the doctor would call me. I sat. And waited. And I waited. At 11:53 am, I walked back up to the assistant, and asked for an update. She said, "Yeah, I'm just not sure what's going on. Maybe she has something." (?What does that even mean?) "I can try to squeeze you in." Um. What? I asked, "Why would you need to squeeze me in exactly, when I had an appointment?" She looked at me and said, "Oh, yeah, I don't know." At 11:58, the doctor finally sees me. She was super condescending, but did apologize for the wait. She pulled out her prescription pad, and I was so relieved that I'd be feeling better, because it was painful. And gross looking. What did she write on the prescription pad? She wrote to take Ibuprofen. Wowwww. When I brought up the fact I had consulted an eye doctor friend, who told me I'd likely need prescription drops, she said, oh, I wouldn't recommend that. The drops I'd prescribe you cause glaucoma AND cataracts, and I'd need to see you back here immediately. Stick with the Ibuprofen. I insisted on receiving a prescription for the drops, in case it was needed. She gave it to me, but basically instructed me to absolutely not fill it, because the side effects would be too much for me to handle. I went to check out, and the checkout employee told me it would be a charge of xx. I looked at him, shocked, and said, look, I've been here almost 2 hours. I'm being charged that much, do you see my eye? You know what she told me to do? She told me to take Advil? He looked at me in shock, like, ARE YOU KIDDING that's what she did? And I said, Seriously. And showed him the prescription. He went to check with the office manager to see if there was anything that could be done, because he agreed that it seemed ridiculous. The office manager took her time (cool), then finally came out and said she'd need to talk with the doctor. They then had someone named call me, who was the least understanding person I've ever dealt with from a doctor's office. She had zero response when I explained what happened, except to repeat that the charge was correct. Eventually, she added, not only was the charge correct, but I SHOULD'VE been charged x amount more. I'm sorry. Seriously? Phyllis had me in tears because of her lack of understanding and compassion. There was none. I repeatedly asked if there was anyone else I could talk to about this, even for a slight adjustment, and she basically said no. I was a loss of what to do. I still am at a complete loss of what to do.This is the first time ZocDoc has let me down. Do not see this doctor. Do not waste your time. Or your money. Just go ahead and take some Ibuprofen instead of throwing money in the trash.

I was pleasantly surprised at how short the wait time and the actual exam took. I feel I got a quality eye exam and Dr. Green-Simms has a very pleasing and professional manner.
Verified patient
Dr Green-Simms was very professional and thorough. One of the main reasons I saw her was because she books her patients far a bit more time than most, and the experience reflected that. The flip side, is you shouldn’t expect to be in & out as I had to said about 40 minutes from the time of my appointment before I saw the doctor.
Verified patient
BAD EXPERIENCE due to back office staff, including the office manager. I can't recall a time that I was ever disrespected in such a manner. I was pretty shaken up when I left.
Verified patient
She was so nice and took the time to get to know me. She also explained everything in a way I could understand, which I appreciated.
Verified patient
That was a great experience, highly recommended!
Verified patient
Great communication skills, thorough, and friendly. Fantastic doctor and medical assistant. Very knowledgeable and empathetic. Highly recommend.
Verified patient
I waited weeks for my first appointment. The office canceled it, then canceled my second appointment as well. Both times, the burden was on me to call in and find a new time. Compounding matters is that the doctor tends to have a full schedule, so it always takes 3-6 weeks to find a new appointment time.
Dr Green-Simms and her assistant are wonderful. My exams were done thoroughly and enough time and care and attention was provided.
