A doctor, especially an endocrinologist, who sees patients with emotional components to their diseases, like diabetes, needs to be empathetic and compassionate while, at the same time, gently pushing the patient toward the most effective treatment. Dr. Andrew Martorella is that doctor I always come away from my appointments with a sense of accomplishment and self- confidence and an understanding, if not total acceptance(I need the A+) of the "fickleness" of diabetes... I am successful at controlling my diabetes because Dr. Martorella is on my side.
