Dr. Anne Mazonson was absolutely what I was looking for in a psychiatric professional. She has an accepting and comforting way in which she treats her patients. Most of all, Dr. Mazonson provides a safe environment in which to share one's private thoughts. She is a safe person as well. That perhaps, is best thing!
Thanks ZocDoc for giving the community at large a way to discover great medical resources. Finally, there is a place to go that provides credible health help to me and my family.

I've been seeing Dr. Mazonson for several years, thus I've had considerable time to form an impression of her approach to treatment. When I was struggling with severe, chronic depression (exacerbated by personal and professional crises) and my antidepressant was providing little relief, my primary care physician recommended Dr. Mazonson to me. I'm glad that I took her advice.
While I've been grateful for Dr. Mazonson's careful management of my medications, I am even more grateful for her patient, caring talk therapy. By "caring," however, I don't mean that she lets me get away with irrational thinking or rationalizing destructive behaviors. She helps me to understand legitimate problems (meaning situations and relationships that are serious and real, but over which I have little control) while pointing out where I self sabotage. I appreciate her objective eye, especially when I'm having a depressive episode.
Am I "cured"? No--and I probably never will be and I didn't go into therapy expecting to be cured. Am I better prepared to handle crises and depression? Absolutely. And I credit Dr. Mazonson for that.

She's very receptive, empathetic and open. I appreciate her ability to hear with more than her ears, and be fully present. As a psychiatrist, this is hard to find nowadays.

Dr. Mazonson was thorough in her evaluation. She was sensitive to my needs and wellbeing. She explained all processes involved. She was kind and respectful in receiving all my input and answering my questions. I look forward to continuing with her.
