Dr. Aran Degenhardt is an absolute gem. I truly look forward to every visit—not something you can say about many doctors. :)
His strong, wise presence sets you at ease immediately. What makes him exceptional is his rare expertise in both Western medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine. He finds the root causes of my symptoms when everyone else dismissed it.
He's both brilliantly knowledgeable and remarkably intuitive. I always feel heard and genuinely cared for. His holistic approach improved not just my specific issues but my overall wellbeing in unexpected ways.

Dr. Degenhardt is board certified in Family Medicine with further certification in medical acupuncture and training in tropical and travel medicine. His practice integrates traditional medicine with tested and effective alternative therapies, allowing him to deeply understand the nature of patients' illnesses and employ out-of-the-box thinking to establish effective, comprehensive, and personalized treatment plans.
He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Tulane University and completed his residency at Beth Israel Medical Center. Earlier in his medical career, Dr. Degenhardt practiced medicine internationally, including tropical medicine in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Traditional Chinese Medicine in Guangxi, China; and family medicine/natural healing at the Zuni Indian Reservation in New Mexico. He also worked extensively with the diverse cultural communities of NYC, including the Japanese and Chinese communities and Manhattan's underserved populations in the Lower East Side and Chinatown. Since 2008, he has dedicated his diverse integrative approach to Manhattan's Chelsea district, providing comprehensive primary care, travel and tropical medicine, and integrative medicine.
Dr. Degenhardt is a member of the teaching faculty at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell at Plainview Hospital, routinely helping educate medical students and resident/fellow doctors. As a member of the Japanese Medical Society of America, he regularly hosts visiting Japanese physicians to observe his integrative medical approach within the US healthcare model.
He holds hospital privileges at NYU Langone Medical Center and Mount Sinai at Beth Israel.
Dr. Degenhardt's interest in sports medicine originates from his athletic history, notably competitive swimming. In college, he was an All-American (semi-finalist) at the NCAA Division III men's swimming national championships.
