Dr. Alavi attended college at Cambridge Tutors College, Surrey, England and University College, London, England. He studied medicine at Southhampton Medical School, England from 1994 to 2000 and obtained his medical degree in 2000. He completed his General Surgery training in England and obtained a general surgery diploma in 2005 and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In 2005 he moved to Los Angeles, CA and commenced further post-graduated training (residency) in Otolaryngology (ENT)- Head & Neck Surgery at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center in 2005. He completed his residency successfully in July 2010. He is an active member of the American Medical Association and The Royal College of Surgeons of England and has been in private practice in Ventura, California since July 2010. Dr. Alavi loves to travel and experience different cultures. He is fluent in Farsi, and also speaks Spanish and German. He likes tennis, running, football (soccer), swimming and attending the gym regularly.

Dr. Alavi is so easy to talk to! I really hate taking my mom to doctor's appointments - it seems like that is all I do nowadays. Our visit with Dr. Alavi was actually enjoyable. We are going to look into scheduling my mom for Balloon Sinuplasty with Dr. Alavi as it is so minimally invasive and we don't have to put mom under a general (she's getting up there!) but she suffers from allergy symptoms and this should help relieve those. He offers this procedure in his office - no hospital which made my mom feel more an ease about having it done.
