Welcoming new clients! Same-day appointments online are often available. Currently, our practice is not prescribing stimulants or other controlled substances such as anxiolytics such as Valium, and others. Balkys Bivins is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner. Balkys specializes in psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and brief psychotherapy of adults aged 18 and older who are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Balkys has provided mental health care to young adults, college students, and individuals experiencing life changes, and stress in diverse settings including inpatient, partial hospitalization programs, and outpatient environments. Our board-certified providers are happy to speak with you in English, Spanish or Portuguese.

Dr. Bivins is very knowledgable, kind, and caring. She personalizes medication and individualized patient care. Dr. Bivins is very thorough. She is fantastic with communication. Dr. Bivins also does an excellent job prescribing the correct medication and dosage. I am grateful and thank God for her.

I didn’t have a good experience with this provider. She lacked bedside manner and was self important going on and on about her credentials. I’ve never met with a Dr that goes over their credentials with their patients much less for the first half of their appointment. She cut me off while I was in the middle of talking and told me we “needed to get back on track” hardly allowing me the opportunity to speak. I was in the middle of explaining to her how one of my family members had passed away as a result of a mental health condition and this is when she cut me off. She made me feel uncomfortable and unheard overall. Anytime I’ve met with a NP or Psychiatrist in the past they let me have the floor explaining everything that’s been going on with me and they also make me feel comfortable without judgment. I felt a ton of judgment from this provider as she was implying that I potentially obtained medication illegally which I would never do. I don’t recommend this provider.

Dr. Balkys Bivins was amazing! The office contacted me ahead and took all the information needed so they won’t be any surprises with the insurance. Then they did a thorough intake to make sure the diagnosis will be correct. Then Dr. Bivis took her time talking to me and explaining everything to make sure she understand the situation before giving the diagnosis and treatment. I’m so impressed with the level of care to the patient. She’s also very knowledgeable and professional, there was no judgment or any uncomfortable feeling. I highly recommend her!(:

Balkys Bivins is a great psychiatrist. She has been treating me for bipolar disorder and she has done a great job. I thought that my condition had no way of getting better, but she has helped me view otherwise. I have been progressively getting better and she has been nothing but encouraging and supportive.

I was extremely resistant to seeking help. I was THAT person. Within five minutes of interacting with Dr. Bivins, my fear of the unknown, fear of a stigma, and fear of asking for help were all completely negated. She fosters an environment of compassion, comfort, self-love, and zero judgement. This was my first time revealing intimate details to a "stranger" outside of my family, and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Dr. Bivins is the definition of a true healthcare professional. She is an excellent provider who collaborates with patients. You are in control of your journey, and she makes you well aware of that. Every step of treatment is a collaboration and joint effort. I truly never felt like a "patient" being directed what to do. I strongly suggest taking control and changing your life for the better by seeking care from this stellar woman. She is not only an excellent provider, but she is an excellent human being. I have found true happiness and serenity by accepting help from Dr. Bivins. We all need help sometimes, and that is OKAY. By relinquishing such rigid control, I gained control of my life. I gained freedom.
