Rachel Bond, LMHC

Psychotherapist
FL
Hi there, I'm Rachel! I am an LMHC in Florida and an LPC in South Carolina. I have a passion for treating others with ADHD and anxiety. I am a Certified Geek Therapist and I prefer to use what is considered an eclectic approach, as I feel that everyone is the author of their own story and not everyone fits in the same box. My approach Being a Certified Geek Therapist, I am able to incorporate pop culture into therapy when applicable. I also match coping skills/thought challenges/etc. to clients individually as everyone's story and journey is unique.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My focus I typically work with clients who are struggling with ADHD symptoms (inability to focus, feeling overwhelmed, racing thoughts) and anxiety (racing thoughts, somatic symptoms, situation-based). I also understand the stress that comes from customer service work (i.e., restaurant, clothing stores, theme parks, etc.). My communication style I have a very direct style with a flair for incorporating dry humor and symbolism in sessions. I have a very professional but laid-back style of counseling: I may have education and training, but my job is to help you learn more about yourself and find the tools you have to heal. My journey to mental healthcare I wanted to be a therapist because I wanted to help people heal from childhood negative experiences. At my school, about a year after I graduated, there were multiple attempted and completed suicides due to academic pressure and not enough support. I did not want that pattern to continue into adulthood.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My goals for you I approach goal setting with clients as the first step of the journey. Goal setting gives us an ultimate path to travel and structure to operate within. If/when we divert from the path, it's always there to go back to and help us reorient to the final destination. Our first session The focus of our first session will be on completing Rula's intake assessment. After the intake, it will be slightly less structured and more focused on developing a professional relationship (things like interests, session structures, etc.). All second sessions will include a structured self-care assessment to see where we are starting from.
