Great Dr.
This was my first visit with Dr. Rubin and I was very impressed by his bedside manner as well as the way he took his time to explain things. His office did feel a bit outdated, but it didn't bother me at all. I will continue to visit Dr. Rubin and I recommend him to anyone looking for a new Urologist.

Dr. Rubin is a true professional. He has a great bedside manner and listens attentively to everything you have to say. He is truly caring and compassionate. Lynn, his secretary/nurse is equally as wonderful. She even helped me dress and undress due to my sprained wrist. Everyone was beyond nice. The doctor has many years of experience and I am very confident in his diagnosis. I will return whenever necessary and will proudly recommend friends and family.

The staff and the Doctor are very friendly and put you at ease. Who wants to see a urologist right? The doctor spent a lot of time with me and asked me some probing questions and was very thorough. As you look around his office, you see he's highly respected and published in his field. Don't expect a fancy modern office when you come in. Who needs it anyhow, right? He's focused on the right area: the patient.
Verified patient
Dr. Rubin was not only very professional, but very human and kind as well. I felt like I was in the right hands and he put me at ease and took my apprehension right away.
Verified patient
When I asked him to explain why he wanted to do what seemed like an unnecessary and invasive procedure he got offended and didn't offer any real explanation. I ended up walking out of the appointment.
The receptionist - Lynn was very nice and extremely friendly - Dr Rubin was very professional and explained everything to me with perfect clarity. He showed me diagrams and charts and carefully explained what I needed to do and what was expected of me. I highly recommend this Dr. And his staff- thanks so much.
Verified patient
The moment he eyed me it was a dirty look and he actually claimed my testicular pain was referred pain from torn hip labrum (which I can feel is ludicrous and my hip specialist says he never heard of). He should retire already as he is not meant for a world where some men-- gasp-- have long-hair or whatever it was he didn't think deserved the same professionalism as I hope he sometimes offers. What a stiff-necked mean doctor. I went to the same University as him and even tried to smooth over whatever problem he had with me before we even spoke (but no doing) He wouldn't even prescribe a pain-pill and clearly didn't hear what I said about Oncologist report.

Awesome!
I can say absolutely loved being in Dr. Rubin's office. He's nice respectful and made me feel very safe and comfortable being a new patient. I had faith in seeing all his awards and accomplishments that he was a well known doctor and he is a definite specialist in his specialty. He gave me the reassurance that my issue will be figured out and he will be there to help.
Verified patient
He seemed knowledgeable and I liked him.
Really great doctor and staff.

I strongly discourage you from seeing Dr. Barry Rubin. His office is unsanitary and rundown, there is no privacy, and he is careless. The carelessness and neglect strike me as both health and privacy violations. The entire office is gross and unclean. For example, Dr. Rubin collects urine samples by placing you in a sectioned off part of the hallway and instructing you to pee into a giant funnel with a glass jar at the bottom. The door to this area is a thin, flimsy screen that does not fully shut. There was a very strong urine smell in the area, and urine was visible on the floor and wall. I asked the receptionist if I could use the bathroom instead. She interrupted the doctor mid-exam with another patient to ask if I could, and he said no. There is also no sink to wash your hands in this urine collection area. The setup and construction of the office offers no privacy. The walls are thin and there is no music or other sound. Because of that there is no privacy--I could hear everything Dr. Rubin and the patient ahead of me were discussing in the exam room (and it was graphic). Finally I saw the doctor. He listened to me explain my symptoms for less than five minutes, then gave me a two minute examination. I was experiencing extreme pain--perhaps the worst of my life. Dr. Rubin told me the symptoms were just in my head. He said I should come back in three weeks if my symptoms don't go away. He was rude and demeaning when he said this, like I wasted his time and should be ashamed of myself.
The secretary was courteous and helpful. Dr. Rubin was very professional. I could tell that he wanted to help me and had the knowledge and means to do so. I liked him right away.
Very professional bedside manner. He takes his time to listen to all of your questions, and calmly explains everything that will be done. I highly recommend this doctor.

He certainly seems qualified, although he left a little wanting in terms of person connection and thorough explanation; he gave me a very clinical "could be x" and sent me on my way for some tests. Not bad, just not personal.
I'm so happy that resources are available today whereby consumers can advise other consumers -- by providing advance insight -- into what to expect from a hotel, restaurant or physician. What I'm talking about is, of course, websites such as TripAdvisor, Yelp, and ZocDoc. To me, it's like having a magical crystal ball, to steer me and my dollars to the proper resources -- without wasting time and effort! Recently, I was feeling pretty lousy. So I found Dr. Barry Rubin through ZocDoc. I was influenced greatly by the many glowing patient comments, which I now know to be accurate. The office is spotless, and staffed with wonderful caring people. You will probably enjoy interacting with Lynn, who runs the staff. She is cheerful, efficient and quick to help. Talking to Dr. Rubin was easy and he was very reassuring. This is a man who listens patiently, he gives you plenty of time. I never felt rushed or hurried. And, Dr. Rubin works in a very organized methodical manner. In my case, it was necessary to have several tests and procedures done. My progress was monitored and I was given appointments for further follow-up. I was told to "call immediately" if there were any concerns or changes. Any questions I had were answered to my complete satisfaction. Dr. Rubin’s positive attitude and concern for my well being made me feel very safe. If you are looking for excellent medical care, with a dedicated professional who is at the top of his game, please make sure you call Dr. Rubin. Without a doubt, this man is a treasure and he comes with years of expertise. If he were a NY Yankee, he would be Derek Jeter! Please give this office a try, they are the best!

Doctor's office is a little hidden. Very efficient and organized. When I mean extremely efficient, the nurse and doctor both don't dawdle. They see you, they are very frank while extremely pleasant. I was in and out in 30 minutes from the minute I walked in to the time I walked out. In that period, they did an eval, hx overview, chart update, authorization and appointment set for the scans the next day! I was also able to be seen after normal work hours so I didn't have to take off from work.
This was a pretty disappointing experience. After arriving about 20 minutes before my appointment time, I waited by the receptionist's counter for about 15 minutes while she socialized with an outgoing patient; most of the conversation was about how she hated Obamacare. After checking in, I waited another 45 minutes or so. They apologized for the wait and said that it was due to the fact that I schedule the appointment a day in advance via ZocDoc; they apparently need more notice. The actual medical exam was fine, except for the parts where Dr. Rubin complained about the government. Upon leaving, Dr. Rubin stood at the receptionist's counter and told her to write a prescription for me for Problem X, at a volume the entire waiting room could hear.
The doctor himself was quite nice, but I was very dissatisfied with this particular interaction. I had scheduled a vasectomy with his office through ZocDoc, and had asked in the notes "Anything I should know beforehand?". I didn't hear anything back, so I was very surprised when I arrived for my appointment, filled out all the forms, etc. and then was told that A) he was sending me to another doctor for the actual procedure, and B) there is a 30 day waiting period in the state of NY for this procedure. If I'd known I was going to have see a second doctor, I could have saved myself a lot of time and filling out of forms at the first doctor. And it would have been very nice to know in advance about the 30 day waiting period.
Dr. Rubin is a highly accredited urologist with a lot of experience. We ran several tests and procedures for my urethral stricture. Unfortunately, his office does not have the correct equipment to perform many of these tests. He did forward me to someone who was able to perform the procedure, and also to another specialist for for something found during a sonogram test. Overall, very helpful, but a little frustrating at what I could get done at his office.
