More about Dr. Beatrice Burke, MD, FACOG

As a second generation OBGYN, Women’s Health is in my heritage. I worked at my father’s OBGYN office throughout high school. Here—on the San Francisco Peninsula--I have cared for women and their babies for over 20 years in private practice. I am expert at minimally-invasive abdominal surgery (gynecologic endoscopy), having trained under the pioneer Dr. Robert Neuwirth, MD in New York City. Endoscopy employs a telescope to look into the uterus (womb), avoiding large incisions during surgery and enabling faster recovery. I also have a special interest in reproductive endocrine problems. I have helped many patients get pregnant and then delivered their healthy babies. I am certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and as a partner in Medical Arts OBGYN (MAOG), I offer you a unique medical experience in our brand new office at 136 N. San Mateo Drive, Suite 101.

It was a pretty bad experience, and I'm not the reactionary, leave a bad review type. I'm not sure if the focus of this office is OB over GYN, but I felt totally unheard/uncared for. Some people do go to the doctor for a routine checkup and get out, and this could be the place for those people. Dr. Burke was nice, but she is not a consultative doctor. I walked her through all my past and present issues (endometriosis, estrogen dominance, recent stomach issues tied to my cycle, pain, etc.) and her response was "Ok, let's do the exam". The exam was extremely painful, and when she asked me if I normally had this much pain and I said no, she just said "Ok". Out of the blue, she told me if I was trying to get pregnant to start taking folic acid. I am unmarried, 27, and not interested in having children for several years. It was like she had a list in her head and was checking the boxes. I drove from SF to San Mateo to spend a total of 8 minutes in the room with her, and I was in a lot of pain for the next 7 hours or so. I would not refer anyone with any women's issues to this doctor.

She was extremely informative, telling me in detail what she was doing and seeing as she was examining. She has a good knowledge about which insurance covers what, and chooses the best options to fit my needs.
OBGs are not my favorite, but she was very professional and patient. She really took time out of her day to make me feel like my concerns were heard. Would HIGHLY recommend.
