Dr. Bertrand Kaper has been in private practice in Arizona for over 13 years. He has extensive clinical experience, having performed more than 3,000 total joint replacement surgeries and more than 2,000 arthroscopic surgeries. Dr. Kaper focuses on treatment of arthritis, specifically joint replacement of the hip, knee and shoulder.
Dr. Kaper serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, AZ. He is an attending surgeon in the Department of Surgery at Scottsdale HealthCare- Thompson Peak in Scottsdale and at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott.
Dr. Kaper earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Sciences, with Honors, from the University of Chicago, and his medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, in Chicago. He started his training with an Internship in General Surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Dr. Kaper then completed a Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Darmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, before going on to an Adult Reconstructive Fellowship at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada.
Board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Kaper is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the American Association of Hip & Knee Surgeons, Western Orthopaedic Association, and Arizona Medical Association. In addition, he serves on the Board of Directors for Operation Walk and is a Foundation Board Member for Yavapai College. Dr. Kaper is the author of numerous peer-reviewed journal articles. In his free time, Dr. Kaper volunteers annually for Operation Walk Canada-traveling to Guatemala and Ecuador to provide free orthopaedic surgery services to the native populatio
