Brandon Selby Blanken, DPM FACFAS, joined Blanken Podiatry Group in 2023, although he has been around the practice since he was a child. He is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) in foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery. Dr. Blanken completed his Residency in Foot and Ankle Surgery in 2023 at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Virginia Beach, Virginia. During his training, he served as a chief resident at a Level 1 trauma center and gained experience with a wide array of surgical approaches from fellowship-trained podiatric foot and ankle surgeons, orthopedic foot and ankle surgeons, plastic surgeons, and vascular surgeons. After performing more than 1,200 cases during his training, Dr. Blanken is well equipped to address your foot and ankle issues.
His training has enabled him to approach any foot and ankle ailment with multiple treatment options tailored to your specific needs, ranging from conservative care, diabetic foot care, minimal and small incision reconstructive surgery—including minimally invasive bunion surgery (MIS)—sports injuries, trauma, arthroscopic surgery, and ankle joint replacement. Brandon is an Associate member of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and Maryland Podiatric Medical Association.
Dr. Blanken has a special interest in treating athletes, foot and ankle trauma, fractures, sprains, and reconstruction of arthritic or flat feet. He also performs minimally invasive bunion surgery and is trained in up-to-date techniques, including Lapiplasty.
Dr. Blanken believes surgery should be a last resort and that conservative management should be exhausted until surgery is absolutely necessary.
A Montgomery County native, Dr. Blanken graduated from Richard Montgomery High School and the University of Maryland, where he played on the ice hockey team all four years. He enjoys playing golf and ice hockey.

I came in w/ concern with a shard of glass embedded in my foot from an two old incident and visited the office to make sure it was healing properly. I left with a painful and deep scalpel wound in my foot due to an error from someone in the office.

We were referred to Dr. Blanken (Brandon) for some foot pain my 10 yo daughter was experiencing. The lady at the front desk was efficient and helpful, and we had a very short wait for the doctor (~5 minutes). He was an affable guy who put my daughter at ease, and was able to quickly diagnose the issue with an xray and a couple simple tests. He explained the diagnosis and treatment options very clearly, provided a referral for a physical therapist, and showed us exactly where we could find an item on Amazon that he didn't have in stock. There were a couple other folks we interacted with in the office, and they were equally friendly and helpful.

This was an amazing visit! The front desk people took me right away, the nurse/assistant was super nice letting me choose my bandage color, telling me what to expect with the doctor, super supportive. I got the doctor that I booked for on ZocDoc! He came in asking questions, getting to know my situation, why I booked the appt, etc. He was super attentive and talked through the entire process and afterwards explained the aftercare at home. This experience was amazing and I’ll definitely be coming back for my other foot! (Ingrown removal).

I came in about twenty minutes before the appointment, and the staff was nothing but rude to me. They said they couldn’t find the appointment when it was through Zocdoc (when I’ve used it before). I waited over an hour while the staff talked about me and gave me dirty looks. When I finally got called back, the nurse was rude to me and made unnecessary comments. Luckily, the doctor himself was fantastic, and he was great to talk to. He made the procedure quick and (overall) pretty painless as we talked about sports and careers. If not for the staff, I would be ecstatic to see him again.

Drs. Steven Blanken and Brandon Blanken are consummate professionals who are interested in the whole patient. Taken in as an emergency consultation, the two doctors took time to explain an MRI and its associated report. They were thorough in their analysis and recommendations. I would recommend the Foot and Ankle Center at the Burkland Medical Center, Inc. in Silver Spring, Maryland.

I really like the doctor and would definitely recommend the practice since everyone was very nice. My only complaint is i had to wait a long time where it seemed like other people didn't. I responded yesterday through ZocDoc with copies of my insurance information but i was guessing they didn't receive and i got the sense that they may not have taken me until they confirmed insurance. But considering i got there 15 minutes early as requested the fact that I didn't actualy see the doctor for almost an hour after my appointment seemed excessive. But again everyone was very nice and professional.

Super solid experience! I would recommend to anyone interested in seeing a podiatrist. He has a great bedside manner with clear communication. The staff is also friendly and helpful.
I had to have 4 big ingrowns removed, and Dr Blanken has been thorough over the past few weeks to make sure everything is healing/resolved. At the beginning of the first appointment he evaluated the issue and asked about comfort level before starting the procedure- do I want to know what is happening in real time or not? And he went along with my preference 100%.

I've been with Blanken Podiatry for many years and Brandon is a terrific addition. He recently did surgery on my big toe to address inpingement that was keeping me from regular exercise and getting into new shoes. This was after I had a recommendation from my Orthapedic Surgeon for a far more invasive fusion surgery that would have left me with limited motion. Brandon did a terrific job with the surgery and I am recovering very well 2 1/2 weeks later with regained movement and range of motion. The Blankens are truly 'masters of feet'!

Brandon Blanken’s clear communication and bedside manner was extraordinary. He was able to explain my symptoms clearly and in a concise manner which helped me better understand what was going on! His stance is that surgery is the last resort which is extremely refreshing as well. What really sealed the deal for me was that he LISTENED to everything I was saying about my symptoms.
