Dr. Brian Mahmood is a native El Pasoan. He grew up on the Westside and graduated from Coronado High School. He attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas and earned his Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2008. Dr. Mahmood stayed in Lubbock for medical school where in addition to his studies he co-founded of The Free Clinic at Lubbock Impart and served as its first student director. He was named Medical Student of the Year in 2010 by the Lubbock Crosby Garza County Medical Society for his work in the underserved community. He also received a special Dean’s Recognition award for his contributions to the medical school. He completed his Doctor of Medicine from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in 2013. Dr. Mahmood returned home to El Paso for his Pediatrics Residency from 2013-2016 at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso and trained at both El Paso Children’s Hospital and Providence Memorial Hospital. He then trained in Dallas, Texas at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Children’s Medical Center Dallas for his Pediatric Pulmonology Fellowship from 2016-2019. His research was in the bronchoscopy findings in patients who wheeze, laryngeal clefts, and bronchiolitis obliterans. Dr. Mahmood has presented at the American Thoracic Society International Conference. Dr. Mahmood is very excited to be back home and serve the children of El Paso.
Dr. Mahmood's areas of interests include cystic fibrosis, asthma, flexible bronchoscopy, laryngeal clefts, bronchiolitis obliterans, bronchopulmonary dysplasia/chronic lung diseases, and chronic mechanical ventilation.
Dr. Mahmood enjoys re-watching the same films over and over with his son, Playstation, punk rock, and all things Star Wars.
