As a board certified internist I am capable of treating complicated problems that may require hospitalization but I focus on the overall well being of the patient. I am a good listener and will not let you leave until we are completely satisfied with the direction taken. In addition to medical problems I am well versed in sports injuries and was one of the first 360 people to become certified in sports medicine and have cared for several professional and amateur teams. Most recently I registered with NJ medical marijuana program and have seen many people get relief of their chronic pain syndromes that they have never had before.

I found my new primary care doc. Great bedside manner. Very personable and extremely thorough and strait forward. He was very patient and took as much time as we needed to discuss the reason for my visit. His office staff were great too!

Start to finish, this was an excellent first doctor's appointment. I'm not one to really go to a doctor- I haven't had a dedicated PCP in over 6 years. Everyone on staff was friendly and engaging, and the preliminary getting set up time with the nurse (Keyla?) felt super personable, and not like a checklist of information. Dr. Shaffer really listened to my current health situation and I feel he took into account both my discomfort with medication, my lifestyle and my health goals. He asked good questions that didn't seem pre-thought out (like from a checklist) and I felt very comfortable. I would highly recommend this office!

I have worked in the medical field and have extremely high standards for medical professionals. I can say without a doubt he is among the top physicians I have ever encountered.
He listens and synthesizes responses very well. He takes the time to get an idea of the entire person and not only what has brought the patient in for that visit.
It is clear he has a vast amount of knowledge both practical and theoretical and he uses keen intuition and legitimate science to back up his decisions.

This was my first visit. He asked lots of questions instead of making assumptions like many other doctors. He listened very well especially when it came to choosing a treatment that would be right for me. The receptionist and nurse were also very sweet and very helpful. I left feeling better and will keep him as my primary care doctor.

As far as doctors office visits are concerned, he and his staff made this a very comfortable experience!
