Everyone in the office was very pleasant. Dr. Harkness was funny and friendly, but also totally professional. She offered new options for contacts that would be more comfortable. The staff did all this within hours of their office holiday party!

Brooke M Harkness OD, MS was raised in Northern California and received a B.S. in neurobiology from the University of California, Davis. She moved to the Portland area to work in neuroimmunology research at Oregon Health and Science University before ultimately deciding to pursue optometry. Dr. Harkness graduated with distinction from Pacific University College of Optometry with her Doctorate of Optometry and Master of Science in Vision Science degrees, and received the Dean’s Award, National Board of Examiners in Optometry Norman E Wallis Award for Excellence, and Beta Sigma Kappa Chapter Award for Exceptional Research, among other honors.
Dr. Harkness also completed a post-graduate fellowship in corneal disease and specialty medical contact lenses at Casey Eye Institute. She has developed a passion for fitting these lenses for children and adults with keratoconus, severe ocular surface disease and dry eyes, corneal transplants, corneal scars after eye injuries, aphakia, and many other conditions for which conventional contacts fall short. In both primary eye care and specialty contact lenses, she respects every patient’s unique journey and enjoys finding innovative, personalized solutions for each individual.
Dr. Harkness spends her free time exploring the outdoors with her husband and dog, practicing yoga, dancing ballet, and rock climbing. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and Oregon Optometric Physicians Association, and regularly presents research or case reports at meetings of the American Academy of Optometry.

Dr. Harkness seemed like a great eye doctor. She was professional and knowledgeable. The exam didn’t take long. It involved reading eye charts and checking my pupils. I needed an updated prescription for glasses and contact lenses. Also, you can get coffee at Wake the Sloth Cafe downstairs.

I went to see Dr. Harkness for an eye infection that was pretty painful. She got me in right away and was extremely informative, and helpful. She made sure she got me the correct eye drops, and the infection was gone within a week. Now I can see again!
