Getting to know Dr. Byron Strother

Dr. Strother graduated from Case Western Reserve University medical school in Cleveland Ohio, and completed his psychiatry residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
He is a board-certified psychiatrist, and has been proud to practice his specialty in the US Army as an active duty physician. Dr. Strother is also an attorney who previously specialized in corporate tax law.
Doc B as he is frequently called by many of his patients, enjoys both outpatient psychiatry and inpatient acute care. He enjoys working with patients from across the life span from child and adolescents to adults, and especially our esteemed elders.
Dr. Strother has been honored to work with a variety of clients from vastly different backgrounds, faiths, and orientations. He is pleased that many patients have viewed his previous practices as a “safe space“ to collaborate on improving and strengthening their overall health.

First and most important: the practitioners I have seen are remakable; compassionate, eager to share information and answer questions in a considerate, not-rushed manner. My portal messages (for refills and medical questions) ate replied to most times within MINUTES of my sending, at the outside perhaps a couple of hours for a definitive reply -- nothing like my old provider network where it is typically days to weeks gone by before a reply is received. In brief, I have rarely if ever received such outstanding service, and I say this as both a patient and from the perspective of a provider!

I have been with Lifestance for a while. They have been instrumental in my recovery from MDD. They worked out billing arrangements for me while we waited on my Medicare to kick in and when I became dissatisfied with the original psychiatrist I was assigned, I was free to choose from the numerous psychiatrist on board that look like me and understand my culture. In came Dr. Strother’s. I love Dr. Strother’s like I loved Santa Clause. He is a a Godsend. He is able to unravel the emotional mess that is me and make everything all right. I have even introduced my psychiatrist to my father so monthly visits not only involve me but my dad who is able to provide more supportive tools my psychiatrist can use involving my family, my therapist and my primary care. This is the type of support I needed years ago and maybe my depression wouldn’t gotten so bad. People look for years for this type of support. Thank you LifeStance.!

This doctor and his staff is amazing! I can not say enough great things about dr strother and his staff! I have always had the worst experiences with doctors to the point I would just not go. Always judged or ignored by others, so struggled with my adhd my whole adult life. This doctor listened to me and got me put on the medication I know works for me and without making me take a bunch of meds that I know do not work. Video appts, every 2 months and I can message and get response almost right away, and he always goes above and beyond if there is issue with pharmacy or shortage. He is experienced in many areas and does not judge, when you think of qualities that make a great doctor dr strother is really one of a kind! So thankful for him, and lifestance!

My first appointment with Dr Strother was on 11/8/22 and I had a second appointment on 1/4/23.
My account with LifeStance continues to show an insurance balance for the 11/8 visit, is not showing as a claim in my Medicare account. There is nothing showing about my visit on 1/4 in either my LifeStance account or my Medicare account.
Each time I call the billing department for LifeStance I get a recording that says “call back during our normal business hours” … no other information given and no option to leave a message.
Today, 2/7/23, I spoke with Taylor at the Matthews NC LifeStance office who told me they have been getting a lot of calls from patients with similar complaints.
These types of issues are a “red flag” and don’t reflect well on LifeStance or ZocDoc.
I am not happy about these billing issues. ??????

The best doctor and staff I have ever been to! Coming from someone who has the worst experience w/not only doctors, I had literally given up hope, and almost cancelled my new patient appt because I was just going to accept the fact I was just not going to be helped, and I’m so glad I went through with it, and even happier that i was not only helped but whole experience with this new place was above and beyond. I actually scheduled wrong kind of doctor first and thankfully staff called to schedule for correct person (any other place would have seen me just to tell me they can’t help and refer me to someone else another appt, hamster wheel!) I cannot say enough great things about this doctor, and lifestance!
