Dr. Calvin Higgins was born in Kingston, Jamaica. He came to the United States in 1979. He attended Cornell Medical School and graduated in 1985. In 1998, he completed his residency at Lenox Hill Medical Center in Manhattan, New York in Internal Medicine. In 1998 he moved to Florida and completed 3 years in office-based medicine. He then moved onto hospital-based medicine in 2001 to present.
Dr. Higgins has a great core for alternative medicine. He always encourages his patients to seek lifestyle changes in diet, exercise, meditation and mental wellness, just to name a few.

This Doctor is not a patient advocate and he does not like to treat you like a human being & find out what your underlining medical problems you are having; like a internist dr is suppose to do. He is just there to get a pay check & make patients feel like they are lying about thier medical problems. I have been to this office 20 times and when my medical problem got so bad they denied me medical treatment which; I had to have surgery & was in hospital for 5 days. So as long as you never complain to dr or staff or ask for anything or have any major problems arise you will be fine but as soon as you do beware because they will withdraw you from their practice making you suffer and feeling like what did I do.

I can't help but think of the word "AWFUL". He came into the room, asked me to breathe in and out, asked if I had allergies, and wrote me a prescription for antibiotics. I told him to hold on, asked why he hadn't checked anything else, and asked for him to explain the prescription he handed me without a word. I asked whether he needs to take a throat culture swab as that is the normal protocol when you have an infection. He said no we don't do culture here. "Culture?! There's no culture swab here. We don't do that here". What? Was I saying it wrong? So I say "maybe it's not a culture swab I should be asking for" and I signal to what I mean. He reassures "yes that's a culture swab but we don't do that. You're living in a different world, you're living in a different world". I was appalled. He said it again "that's a different world lady". I said lady was not my name. He said ok and grabbed his computer to leave. I had to stop him to let him know I was not done. I had one more concern. After giving me another prescription, he tells me I should have bloodwork done and asks when I can come back. He's insane if he thinks after that interaction anyone would want to experience that again. My recommendation: take your business elsewhere. He's truly awful.

Overall, it was good. We waited over an hour but once the doctor got to us, it was all pretty fast. I was very satisfied with all the in house testing that the office did ( ekg and blood work) and it saved time from going to get blood work done somewhere else.

First time visit and due to the wait time I was a bit upset. 8:30 am appt but did not go into office until 9:45, then wait some more. The doctor was pleasant but I wondered if the visit was rushed. I will give them a second chance.

My first visit...reception very friendly. Doctors first assistant tending to me was very detached and unfriendly...I asked her to change her attitude as it was very uncomfortable to be in her presence..she was defensive and argumentative then stormed out of the room and another assistant/nurse came in and She was Very Friendly and explained in a warm and caring manner what she needed from me and tests she was going to do. The Doctor came in shortly after and was a nice man but couldn't help my condition.
When leaving the second receptionist I saw was too busy filling in a pile of envelopes to pay any attention to me...I finally asked her if there was any thing else I needed to do... she coldly said wait (which I had already been doing) I then told her I already paid and could I leave...finally she looked up at me uninterested and said I could leave...not wanting to know if I wanted to make another appointment or not...I am undecided if I will go back..2 for 2 the good Might weigh out.

The answering the phone to make appointments is ridiculous. Hold times are up to 25 minutes. I don't know if they are understaffed but customer service from receptionist is mediocre. No one wants to be placed on hold for 20 minutes at a time.

The doctor was in and out pretty quickly. There was some confusion in regards to MRI and X ray results that I still have not received in the two weeks since my appointment. I have not received any contact from the office in regards to my initial visit.
