I am a Columbia University-trained psychiatrist who combines integrative and holistic mental health practices - such as meditation, yoga, and other wellness approaches - with modern psychiatric medicine. I treat a range of mental health issues, including stress, anxiety, focus and concentration, mood problems, grief and loss, and relationship issues. I have a particular interest in helping people with substance use problems and addictive behaviors (such as compulsive sex, gambling, or eating). I am also an assistant professor on Columbia's faculty, where I teach on topics related to psychiatry, ethics, neuroscience, and society. See my website at http://www.carlerikfisher.com
When necessary, I provide treatment with medications, but I also emphasize a range of wellness practices that include meditation, yoga, psychotherapy, exercise, nutrition, and other forms of integrative medicine. For some people, these approaches allow us to reduce or even eliminate the need for conventional medications.
My goal is to help you go beyond "symptoms" to achieve optimal emotional and physical health. Ultimately, I care most about helping you to realize your goals and find greater joy and peace in your life.
