Charlton Stucken M.D. is a Fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy. He has treated athletes at all levels all over the country, from amateurs to professionals, and focuses on minimally-invasive reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder.
He is a graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, with a degree in Biology. He then continued his education at the Boston University School of Medicine, where he received his M.D. degree. There he was honored to be selected as the Commencement Speaker from Boston University. He then accepted an Orthopaedic Surgery residency position at Boston University, the largest Level 1 trauma center in New England. During residency he was awarded as the Resident of the Year as well as the prestigious Resident Research Award.
Dr. Stucken received advanced Fellowship Training in Sports Medicine at the Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. There he served as an assistant team physician and orthopaedic surgeon for several professional sports teams, including the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies, and Philadelphia Flyers, as well as several college teams including St. Joseph’s University.
He has presented research at numerous national and regional conferences and published in respected journals and textbooks. He specializes in complex disorders of the knee and shoulder, from arthroscopic rotator cuff repair to total knee replacement to “Tommy John” surgery. He has published extensively on novel techniques of reconstruction of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). He has also published and researched extensively in the field of orthopaedic trauma, from tibial plateau fractures to complex open fractures.
