I love meeting with Dr. Krishnamurthy. She takes the time to listen to my questions and answer them in a way that makes sense to me. She wants to make sure that I understand everything we're talking about, but doesn't talk down to me.

More about Dr. Chaya Krishnamurthy, MD
“I understand the GI tract better than any other organ system, and I like doing medical procedures. Gastroenterology offers a great blend of office visits and procedures.
“My philosophy of care is ‘First do no harm.’ Beyond that, I would characterize myself as very professional and open with patients during their visits with me. I like to get my patients involved to the point where they feel empowered in every aspect of their care. My goal is to answer any question they come to me with and to help them understand or cope with those GI issues that cannot be cured but must be managed in order to improve the patient’s quality of life.”
In her free time, Dr. Krishnamurthy enjoys reading literature and hiking.

I have had 5 appointments with this doctor. The first appointment went well, she gave lots of information and was helpful. My colonoscopy that she performed went well (although I could have used some more informaton regarding the prep).
My second appointment was listed to me as a colonoscopy follow-up. When I got to the appointment, I learned that it was supposed to have been a hemrroid banding appointment. I don't handle pain or uncertaintly well. My day was fully scheduled with other appointments and errands. So she told me that I had wasted this appointment. I rescheduled.
A day before my next appointment, I called the office to confirm my appointment. I had not recieved any apt. reminders (which they usually do way too many of). They didn't have me on the schdule. They called back and moved me to another day in a different office.
Everything went as planned with the rescheduled office. I brought my husband with me, because I know how sensitive I am. The doctor kept making comments about how sensitive I am and about how I need to hold his hand. etc.
The next banding visit was scheduled for 3 weeks later. The day before this appointment her office called to see if they could bump me up to earlier in the day. They had a large gap in appointments. I told them that this wouldn't work out with our work schedules. The next morning her office called and cancelled my appointment and scheduled me for 2 weeks out. This was really frustrating as I was trying to have all three banding appointments done before we needed to leave town. You have to have 3 weeks between appointments.
Yesterday's (rescheduled appointment) was fine. Again, they called to move me up earlier in the day.I let them know that I couldn't do an earlier appointment, but would get there as soon as possible. When I got to the front desk, their receptionist asked if I was a new patient, didn't have the phone number for me to call for their billing (which had been done in error), and couldn't answer any of my questions. Again, during the appointment the dr. had a lot of talk about how needy and sensitive I am, which actually makes it worse. But the procedure went as expected.
I have one more appointment to go. Hopefully it will be my last. I thought about changing doctors between the 1st and 2nd banding appointments. However with my insurance it is difficult to get second referrals for the same procedures. I didn't want to start over again. I'm opting to just get this done and move on. But I would not recommend their practice to anyone. Sorry for the long saga. Now I have to go figure out their billing for them.

Dr Krishnamurthy is very kind. She is tolerant of my need to explore alternative medicine, At the same time, she is direct in expressing her concerns. I feel that I am able to engage in a real conversation about my health care needs with her.

I went to the wrong office and she stilled worked me in even though that made me a half hour late for my appointment. She ordered tests so we can get to the bottom of my problem and I appreciate that since I have been feeling very sick for two months. I really like her and trust her. This is my third visit with her, all for different things.

I was seeing another GI doctor at a different hospital. I've had every test imaginable and Dr Krishnamurthy was willing to take the time to look through my information, step outside the box and help me feel human again.

She is always very pleasant to talk to, very friendly yet completely professional. I am a new patient yet I felt by this (my second visit) she was already thoroughly invested in me and my medical issues and is concerned about helping me treat and manage them.

This was only my second visit with Dr. Krishnamurthy, but she is easy to talk to and has good communication skills. I like how she thinks long-term, but still offers short-term solutions to my problems.

She fully explaned the treatments available. After examination she recommended banding and took time to explain what to expect from this procedure. She was reassuring and put me at ease as she explained what she was doing and what to expect from this procedure. She showed concern for how I was feeling.
