Cheryl Kosarek, MD is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology. Prior to joining Westlake Dermatology, she was in private solo practice for 30 years, with the majority of that experience in El Paso, Texas.
Dr. Kosarek is a native Texan, who received her BA in Biochemistry at UT Austin, and completed medical school at McGovern Medical School at the UT Health Science Center at Houston. She then left Texas to spend a year at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island for an internship in Internal Medicine, followed by moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota to complete her dermatology residency at University of Minnesota. Before starting a solo private practice in Perrysburg, Ohio, Dr. Kosarek had the opportunity to work as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Dermatology at Medical College of Ohio.
Dr. Kosarek enjoys both medical and cosmetic dermatology, and treats patients of all ages. During her dermatology career, she has had the opportunity to appreciate and put into practice the many ongoing advances in treatments and technologies of this field of medicine. Dr. Kosarek attends meetings to continue learning new dermatologic treatments, and training seminars for the growing number of dermal fillers, neurotoxins, laser and light therapies, skincare, and other forms of skin rejuvenation and anti-aging options.
Lake Austin has always been a special place for Dr. Kosarek, enjoying water sports and other family activities centered around the lake. She has a passion for travel, cherishes the time with her three grown children, and enjoys reading, hiking, and cooking.
Dr. Kosarek is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Texas Medical Association, and the Texas Dermatological Society.

A pretty bizarre experience overall. I was about 20 minutes late due to an accident on the highway, I tried calling before my appointment to let them know but no one picked up the phone. I called multiple times.
I ended up waiting almost two hours because she had decided to see someone else within that twenty minutes that I was late. During the appointment, she was unclear and was almost trying to leave the room for the entire last half. She didn't explain anything she was telling me, and was extremely stiff and awkward. After she left the room, the nurse that was there specifically told me not to listen to the doctor's advice about the body wash that she prescribed. Don't know if I'll be coming back.

My office wait time was longer because I arrived early per the instructions. I was actually seen 45 minutes after my appointment time, which still seems too long. I get that sometimes things run behind, but it was early enough in the day that I wouldn’t think they’d be that far behind. Also, the waiting room was small and crowded with people having guests with them, which was not supposed to be allowed due to Covid. I’m just hoping the mask-wearing policy kept us all safe.

My doctor was kind, addressed all my issues, and gave me a tailored wellness plan that met my needs. Everyone wore facemasks and had their temp checked before admission. The environment felt safe and clean. Would recommend.
