Dr. Chitoor Govindaraj is an internist and pulmonologist treating patients in Brooklyn, New York, and the surrounding communities. He holds certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in critical care medicine, geriatric medicine, and pulmonary disease. He is also a member of professional organizations including the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the Critical Care Society.
Originally from Madras, India, Dr. Govindaraj attended Loyola College to begin his undergraduate education. He completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at Madras Medical College, followed by an internship program at Government General Hospital. Dr. Govindaraj continued his medical education at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn. Here, he received residency training and completed a fellowship program in pulmonary disease. He has also completed a fellowship program focused on clinical pulmonary disease research at the Downstate Medical Center.

They called me in early asking if I was available before the appointment time because the doctor wanted to leave early. I did, rushing there, looking forward to zero wait time. After the first 45 minutes, 2 other people were still before me and the doctor left unexpectedly, for about an hour. Once he came back I was seen relatively quickly, but still after the time I was originally scheduled. Seems to know what he's doing, but the wait time wow... Even the nurse and receptionist promised they would never call people in early again for him. I'm still coming in for a followup and hoping that this will not happen again. Like I said, he seems to be a good doctor nonetheless.

Difficulty understanding his accent, but overall an ok experience. Some of the staff was nice. One lady on staff had a nasty attitude and seemed like she took her personal problems to work in how she treated people.
