Dr. Manzella is smart, steady, and a great support for working moms. I really struggled to find work/life balance after maternity leave, & she helped me work through my conflicting emotions with great sensitivity. She never presumed to know what was "best" for me. Instead, she focused on helping me identify my own values & goals, so I could make changes for myself, my family, & my career with confidence. Highly recommended!

For more than 20 years, Dr. Manzella maintained a private practice in New York City where she provided therapy and supervision in a number of areas, including her specialty in grief and bereavement.
At Seleni, Dr. Manzella specializes in working with parents after miscarriage, stillbirth, and child loss. She helps them to draw on their strengths and recognize their ongoing bond with, and love for, the child they have lost. She also focuses on any potential mood or anxiety disorders that can complicate bereavement and is particularly skilled in supporting parents as they explore the decision to pursue subsequent pregnancies. Dr. Manzella is purposeful and caring as she helps women and couples navigate the complexities of fertility challenges.
Dr. Manzella is also an expert on the relationship between loss and trauma. She continues to embrace and use mindfulness-based clinical interventions that she developed through her research, teaching, clinical supervision, and service as an international consultant on managing loss and trauma.
Dr. Manzella also provides career assessment and counseling for women making career changes following pregnancy. She addresses practical and psychological elements in career exploration, building on her 20 years of experience as a New York University faculty advisor and professor.
Dr. Manzella earned both her master's degree in clinical psychology and doctorate in counseling psychology from New York University. She carried out her doctoral dissertation research at Beth Israel Medical Center hospice, with postdoctoral supervision in grief and bereavement work.

I recommend Dr. Manzella very strongly. She is knowledgeable, personable, experienced and highly intuitive. I met with Dr. Manzella at a very confusing and overwhelming time in my life. I had been to several therapists and had not found one with the right balance of patience, thoughtfulness and compassion while at the same time reinforcing my strengths. She helped me change and has been a powerful impact on my moving forward in my life.
