More about Dr. Christie Egbuchunam, MD
Dr. Christie Egbuchunam completed her residency in Family Medicine in 2005 at Wichita Falls Family Practice Residency Program, affiliated with the University of Texas Southern Medical Center at Dallas.
During residency she received various awards including Outstanding First Year Resident and Outstanding Third Year Resident. She was also the Chief Resident in her final year of residency. She is board certified in Family Medicine. Until recently she was a Lead Physician in one of the Parkland Hospital and Health Systems’ COPC clinics.
She also holds a Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology from the School of Public Health, University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated in May of 2002 with a GPA of 4.0.
Dr. Egbuchunam sees children from age of six years old to adults of any age for primary care including physicals, wellness checks, chronic disease management and sick visits.
Dr. Egbuchunam’s special area of interest is obesity. As a family physician with a public health perspective, she understands the risks that obesity poses to individuals, communities, and whole nations. She participated in research on obesity while at the School of Public Health and her thesis was based on research examining the relationship between obesity and high blood pressure in children.
Dr. Egbuchunam has received training in Bariatric Medicine through the Center for Medical Weight Loss. This weight loss program incorporates physician-monitored safe and effective personalized weight loss plans
