He has worked in most psychiatric settings: universities, emergency rooms, adult and adolescent inpatient units, dual diagnosis units, consult liaisons, four nursing homes, seven community mental health centers, prisons, and maximum security units, and has had a large outpatient psychiatric practice.
Dr. Hasseltine’s practice focuses on accurate diagnosis and medication management. Typically, he offers this in conjunction with supportive psychotherapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. He tends to be engaging and supportive and believes people grow with dialogue. Occasionally, Dr. Hasseltine may recommend that additional therapy is necessary to achieve the best outcome.
Dr. Hasseltine received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas. He started an internship in family practice at the University of Texas at Houston and then changed to a psychiatry internship at SUNY Health Science Center Syracuse, New York. He completed his residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He started his practice career at Marion General Hospital in Ohio where he developed a large outpatient psychiatric practice and worked in the inpatient unit and performed psychiatric consults.
Dr. Hasseltine then started his own large psychiatric practice and worked at three area nursing homes. He was the president of the Psychiatry Society of Central Ohio and was on the board at NAMI-Franklin County. He was then recruited to be an assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, teaching medical students and residents on the dual diagnosis unit, and the adolescent unit.

I met Dr. Christopher Hasseltine for the first time today. I have NEVER met a healthcare professional who listened to me, made me feel heard, and took the time to understand me as a person as he did. Dr. H was immediately welcoming and down to earth. He did not make me feel rushed the entire HOUR he spent with me. He was so kind, authentic, and caring and made me feel comfortable. He listened intently to my entire history before discussing any treatments. He is a great listener, asks insightful questions, and, most importantly, he CARES.
