Before the bayarea though, she had a very colorful childhood having been born in Vietnam, being a "boat immigrant", growing up in rural northern England, and finally immigrating to the United States. After high school, she graduated from University of California with a B.S. in Physiology and then graduated from Southern California College of Optometry in 1999. She has been working in private practice at this location since 2006.
