Dr. Daniel Berger attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he completed a bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. He subsequently earned a Doctorate in Medicine at the Chicago Medical School/Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. He continued his medical training at Rush University Medical Center where he completed a residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Dr. Berger treats all aspects of gastrointestinal disease and places a particular emphasis on prevention of cancers of the colon and esophagus. Dr. Berger has additional clinical interests in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and infectious diseases of the GI tract. During his fellowship, Dr. Berger started a program for fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) and was part of the first FMT done at the medical center. His research on quality metrics in screening colonoscopy has been published in several peer-reviewed medical journals.
Dr. Berger treats his patients with utmost respect and provides individualized care tailored to the specific needs of his patients. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).
In his free time, Dr. Berger enjoys spending time with family, traveling, playing the piano, and cheering for Chicago sports teams.
