Dr. Dara Shahon is a medical ophthalmologist who has been providing eye care at Tozer Eye Center since 1999. In addition to general ophthalmology, Dr. Shahon has a special interest in treating patients with dry eye and ocular surface disorders.
As a general ophthalmologist, Dr. Shahon's patients are evaluated and treated for dry eye disorders, glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic eye conditions and many other medical diseases. She performs comprehensive medical and routine eye evaluations, emergency eye care as well as providing general exams and vision prescriptions.
Dr. Shahon was born in Toronto, Canada where she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. She received awards in pharmacology, graduated with highest honors, and was invited to become a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society. Dr. Shahon completed an internship in Internal Medicine at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix and then entered her Ophthalmology residency program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Long Island Jewish Medical Center. She served as Chief Resident during her final residency year.
In addition to her general ophthalmology practice, Dr. Shahon has a special interest in helping patients with dry eyes and ocular surface disorders. She developed the Dry Eye Center of Scottsdale to increase focus on the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions. Learn more about dry eyes and blepharitis.
Dr. Shahon is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the International Ocular Surface and the Tear Film and Ocular Surface Societies. She has been practicing with Dr. Tozer since 1999.
