Dr. Darryl L. Fortson joins Sparks Family Medicine after serving as President/CEO of Fortson Family Care and Wellness Center in Munster, Indiana. Dr. Fortson, a Chicago native, is a Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia where he was inducted into the Omego Psi Phi Fraternity. Dr. Fortson received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Fortson is a Fellow of the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians and is Board Certified in that subspecialty.
Dr. Fortson's medical interests include adolescent and adult family practice. Dr. Fortson's personal interests include singing, writing gospel music and actively supporting InReach Ministries, a ministry founded by his wife Shelia. Dr. Fortson has three children and is in the process of producing a motion picture based on the Gospel Book of Luke.

This is my 4th visit with Dr Fortson. He really listens and understands when I explain my symptoms. I love that he does not dismiss what I am telling him but has ordered tests to try and get to the bottom of what is going on.
