Dr. David Gerstenfeld received his undergraduate degree from Duke University. He then attended medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he achieved the highest academic award, entry into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. Dr. Gerstenfeld then performed his residency training in ophthalmology at the Albert Einstein University Hospital system, where he gained experience learning under some of the top minds in the field at Montefiore Medical Center.
He entered private practice in 1992 in Staten Island. Dr. Gerstenfeld was one of the first ophthalmic surgeons in the US to begin performing clear cornea topical anesthesia cataract surgery in the mid-1990s. He has done thousands of cataract surgeries and trained many of the top young ophthalmologists in the world at the Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat hospital.
Many of Dr. Gerstenfeld’s colleagues have come to observe his surgical techniques at the state of the art surgical suite at Staten Island University Hospital. Today, Dr. Gerstenfeld is at the cutting edge in both eye surgery in the operating room, as well as office based laser surgery. Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1993, Dr. Gerstenfeld is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

First of all I called in pain with a scratch corner & they got me an appointment within an hour! Great friendly staff!! Dr. puts drops in my eyes & pain went away immediately!
