Angie E. Wen MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in Cornea and External Diseases of the eye and Refractive Surgery including LASIK. She also provides comprehensive eye care. Dr. Wen is a graduate of the combined BA/MD program at Northwestern University, and completed her residency training in Ophthalmology at the Kresge Eye Institute, Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She went on to pursue fellowship training at the Harkness Eye Institute at Columbia University in New York City, where she acquired training in the latest advanced corneal transplantation and cataract surgery techniques. Dr. Wen is a member of the full-time Ophthalmology Faculty Practice at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. She is also an Attending Ophthalmologist involved in supervising and teaching residents at the Infirmary. She has research interests in ocular surface disease and surgical techniques/outcomes, and has authored multiple articles and book chapters.

Dr. wen was great and help me to understand the complications that can be sometimes seen with my Lupus treatment
Dr. Wen was professional. Give treatment options and did not pressure me to go either way. Her staff was not so friendly. I was actually seen by Dr. Wen more than an hour from my appointment time.

Dr Wen and her staff were very informative and professional. They were able to provide an excellent diagnosis and quickly schedule surgery and referrals.
The initial wait was only about 10-15 min. after which I saw a technician who did a preliminary eye exam and gave me eye drops to dilate my eyes. Then I had to wait almost an hour to see Dr. Wen, who only met with me for about 5 minutes or so. She was great, but the wait was so long I probably won't go back to this office.

Dr Wen is knowledgeable, kind and able to explain my condition in plain English. Technician Kevin is also very professional. I do highly recommend this practice. Only recommendation is to make first paper work online, let patient submit prior to the appointment which will be able to make wait time shorter?!

I was ill and left a message on the office phone system the night before the appointment. I hope it was funneled to the right person who handles appointments.
I’m quite disappointed and upset with how they went about my prescription. Patients come for relief of whatever their complaints maybe. Pain is the 5th vital signs which is one of my complaints. Everything went fine with the appt but when it came to the prescription it was really a big hassle! 2 hrs after I left I went to pharmacy to ff up on my prescription. I was told nothing was sent. Called the doctor’s office. Was informed that all prescriptions are sent out after the last pt was seen by the doctor which was after 4pm. 7pm came, I called the pharmacy, no prescription was sent! Called the doctor’s office, naturally they were closed so I left a message. Next day, @ around 9:30am I called the doctor’s office, I mentioned my name, and the person who answered the phone, was totally unprofessional because her answer was “yes?? We got your message!” In a very Lancelot tone of voice which for me only means so what?! Then she tells me to hang on and another lady answers the phone then tells me immediately my prescription is being filled as we speak. No explanations why the prescription wasn’t sent yesterday! Then add to that. Pharmacy calls me and tells me the medication has to be ordered and will come the next day! I understand there are things that is out of our control, but the things we can control, we don’t even take care of it! And the Lancelot attitude is totally not acceptable! Obviously, I’m in pain and reason why I seemed medical help is to be relieved of my complaints! There was a delay in the treatment which could have been avoided yet the sense of responsibility and affect wasn’t there at all! Totally not going back to this clinic!!!

They were unable to do a contact refraction and fitting because they do not have sample contacts yet they accept and market themselves for contact appointments.
This is my second time seeing Dr. Wen and I absolutely plan on returning. While the wait is not ideal, it’s not terrible; the receptionist was kind and the nurse was super friendly and thorough. Dr. Wen was very thoughtful in her examination and has the ideal bedside manner. Most certainly would recommend.

It was my own fault that I was waiting so long. I didn't have a conformation of the appointment from ZocDoc but she made time to see me anyway. She and the other staff were really personable.

Dr. Wen is awesome. The wait time was horrific. Took me over 1.5 hours to finally see her. Caused me to miss another appointment, which was extremely frustrating.
Great bedside manner. I felt very comfortable with her and she did a great job explaining all procedures.
They said their "internet was down" three days prior and so couldn't see that I had booked a week ago. Because of this, they hadn't looked up insurance to verify that it covers the appointment. took 30-40 minutes between the two of us to contact insurance (this part was insurance company's fault). If they couldn't access the list of ZocDoc patients, they should have called ZocDoc and found out to make sure they had the appointment in the system.
The admin staff is beyond helpful and nice. They helped me with insurance issues and were very supportive. Dr. Wen is also great, as well as her assistants. Two enthusiastic thumbs up. The appointment did take a while, schedule plenty of time.
I highly recommend you do NOT visit this doctor's office - unless you love waiting hours in a doctors office. I arrived for my 1pm appointment 15 mins early - and I did not leave the office until 3:35pm. I probably only spent about 10-15 mins with Dr. Wen. While she's generally friendly, and her assistant Michelle was great, there's just no reason to have a patient wait nearly 2.5 hours and not provide a single explanation or even an apology. I understand that sometimes delays happen, but this is just too much and seems to be a pattern at this office, based on other reviews.
Dr. Wen was very detail oriented checking my eyes. I can only come for late afternoon appointment due to personal reason. She was very patient attending her patient even on Friday late afternoon. Thanks.

The receptionist was friendly, and the staff was knowledgeable and able to answer all of my questions. I arrived 15 minutes early as they requested to fill out my first time paper work. However, they called me in 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, and i did not actually see Dr. Wen for 1 hour and a half after my scheduled appointment time. If i had not been happy with the exam when i was finally able to see the doctor, I would not return The wait time was impractical and unacceptable for anyone who has an office job they have to sneak away from and return to.

Actually my mother see Dr. Joseph Benevento on Sept. 5, 2014 Friday. He reviewed and examined my mother's both eyes, He is very professional and give me advice and the plan regarding my mother eyes issues. I will highly recommended to the people to use this facility for their eyes check up every year. Thanks the NY Eye and Ear Infirmary in Brooklyn all staffs.
Not great. I waited over an hour and half. No one in the whole office had the common courtesy to say "sorry about the wait". Dr. Wen was ok. Seemed a bit distracted, perhaps related to being an hour and a half behind schedule.
Angie was fast efficient and very professional but more importantly she identified that I had a rare type of eye cancer. She suggested a surgeon and it has since been removed. I was going in for a regular eye exam and she saved me. Hard not to give her a stellar recommendation.
The front desk help and assistants were all very friendly and thorough. Dr. Wen was extremely personable and knowledgeable. She communicated clearly and made my visit as painless as possible. Highly recommend.

The office is new and immaculate. Dr Wen was attentive and responsive to my questions. She was thorough in her examination of my daughter, more so than the doctor she used to see. Office staff seems efficient, even relayed a phone message from my husband because I didn't have my cellphone. All in all a pleasant visit. This was only our first visit but I'd probably recommend this office/doctor.
