“Dr Wen was very knowledgeable. She educated me on the best course of action for my situation and provided a good action plan.
The amount of testing was amazing, and the staff was wonderful. Most importantly my appointment was scheduled for 9:00am and I was called at 8:58am. Can’t ask for more! ”

Angie E. Wen MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in Cornea and External Diseases of the eye and Refractive Surgery including LASIK. She also provides comprehensive eye care. Dr. Wen is a graduate of the combined BA/MD program at Northwestern University, and completed her residency training in Ophthalmology at the Kresge Eye Institute, Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She went on to pursue fellowship training at the Harkness Eye Institute at Columbia University in New York City, where she acquired training in the latest advanced corneal transplantation and cataract surgery techniques.
Dr. Wen is a member of the full-time Ophthalmology Faculty Practice at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. She is also an Attending Ophthalmologist involved in supervising and teaching residents at the Infirmary. She has research interests in ocular surface disease and surgical techniques/outcomes, and has authored multiple articles and book chapters.

Super long wait time (not a good idea to book during office hours because the wait time is ridiculous) and no staff on sight to answer any questions or concerns. Doctor was on break during my allotted time which is ridiculous. Unsure why they would book me at that time when the doctor wasn’t even present. Anyways, she was super direct and clear. However, she wasn’t open to hearing the full scope of the issues I was experiencing. On the treatment plan now. Will see if the issue persists.

Dr. Angie Wen was fine. She answered questions you had. The receptionist was neutral. However, the last staff you give your chart to as you leave could have been much more professional and courteous. She was not friendly and when asked for a copy of my own prescription, she said that there was a fee if I wanted a copy of my prescription. The copy of my prescription cost more than the copay I had to pay. This was ridiculous. I pay co-pay and I couldn't get a copy of my own prescription. I don't know if this is part of their practice, but it is outright Rude! I ended up not being able to get a copy of my prescription. The whole visit could have been a lot better only if she had better support staff.

Everything was great except the wait time. I arrived 10 minutes early for a 10:30 a.m. appointment. Completed all paperwork in 3 minutes. Waited for 55 minutes before being seen. Seems like everyone else in the waiting room went through the same thing. Why so long?

The experience with the doctor was good. However, the wait time was almost an hour. Plus, even if I had asked about contact lenses since I wear glass and contacts, I was not told prior that 1) refraction was not a regular part of the eye exam - this was an extra cost from my copay and a procedure that needed to be added on to the eye exam; and 2) the doctor does not fit contact lenses and does only refractions for eye glasses.
