More about Dr. David Heard, PhD
Dr. David Heard has worked as a Clinical Psychologist for the past 40 years. After completing his PhD at the University of Maryland, he trained at the Philadelphia Child Guidance with specialty training in child, adolescent, couples, and family therapy. In 1979, he moved to New Mexico to begin his Psychology practice. He has worked with older adults in Rehabilitation Hospital, providing assessment and treatment due to stroke, brain injury, auto accidents, dementia, usually comorbid depression and anxiety. He has been an avid dirt bike rider for 50 years and also rides on a big street bike. He and his wife raised their children and adopted five boys who needed a family.
He is supportive by nature. Dr. Heard believes that one obtains happiness in one's life by developing a set of habits that support one in achieving one's goals. Therapy is a process of looking closely at one’s life and determining what factors inhibit the achievement of one’s goals. He believes that experience is a great teacher in life.
