I came to see Dr. Sherman at a very difficult time in my life. I had never seen a psychiatrist before and was a little nervous going in but Dr. Sherman made me feel comfortable from the very start. During my time in treatment with Dr. Sherman I was able to really turn things around in my life. Dr. Sherman's sharp insights and empathic attitude as well as his medication skills were amazingly helpful. During my time in treatment my relationships have improved and so has my mood and my overall outlook on life. I was finally able work through some difficult experiences from my past and gain some peace and with that a sense of self-worth and confidence. I feel very fortunate that I decided to take that step and go into treatment with Dr. Sherman. I had to compromise and find a way to go see him during the day since he doesn’t have many evening hours, but I feel it was worth it. It really changed my life.
He is just the absolute best. I can't say enough great things about him. He is flexible and allowed me to continue sessions on Skype when I moved out of the area. Definitely recommend him!

More about Dr. David Sherman, MD, MS

I provide psychotherapy with the option of medication and other integrative treatments for anxiety, depression, and stresses related to relationships, work, illness, and other life challenges. I believe my patients experience me as warm, open, collaborative, interactive, humble, and very accessible. As my patient, I would help you identify treatment goals, and then work with you to achieve these goals by together making sense of your feelings and helping you to realize new freedom in your life. Regarding pharmacology, I am very sensitive to the fears and hesitations that people have when considering medication. As a psycho-pharmacologist, I have a judicious, balanced perspective on the role of medication in overall mental health treatment. I am also experienced with a broad array of treatments, so we can find what works, and equally importantly, we will simplify and take away what is not helpful. I sometimes recommend well-researched alternatives to prescription medicine, including light therapy, dietary change, breathing techniques, exercise, and meditation. I trained in psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center where I am now on faculty. I also completed advanced specialization in couples therapy at the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. In addition to private practice, I am the psychiatrist for students at the Juilliard School. I also teach psychiatrists-in-training. Before your appointment is confirmed, we will speak by phone so that you have the opportunity to ask me any questions.

Dr Sherman is a great doctor and person. He is a really good listener and keen observer. He respected my time and budget by not wasting anytime and fully disclosing his billing policy. I highly recommend Dr Sherman if anyone is serious about getting better. He does not accept any insurance policies as far as I know which could be a burden to some. If money is not a problem Dr Sherman is a great choice.
