Dr. Debra Shabas, MD

Dr. Debra Shabas is a board-certified general neurologist specializing in multiple sclerosis. After graduating from Cornell University, Dr. Shabas attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She performed two years of residency in internal medicine at North Shore University Hospital/Cornell Medical Center, and subsequently, a residency in neurology at Albert Einstein School of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. Her fellowship training in neuromuscular diseases and electrophysiology was completed at New York University Medical Center. Dr. Shabas practiced at the Multiple Sclerosis Center at Helen Hayes Hospital and was recruited to the NYU Multiple Sclerosis Center. She developed a program at NYU for women with chronic neurological conditions and neurological disabilities, later replicating the program at two nonprofit organizations in New York City. Over the course of her career, Dr. Shabas has worked in private practice at Soho Medical and in the neurology departments at NYU and Mount Sinai Downtown.
