Really great doctor and nice guy all-around. I left feeling like I had a good handle on what was wrong, and a game plan to solve the problem. Will definitely be going back to Dr. Fitzgerald in the future.

I'm sure Dr. Fitzgerald is a first-rate surgeon and doctor. I'm also sure this is a well-run practice (the staff was polite and professional, and I thank them), but I am absolutely disappointed in the way my case was handled. I am a cochlear implant user who wants to upgrade to Nucleus 6; it's a simple thing that involves purchasing a new processor from Cochlear Corp. No surgery or follow-up ENT care are required. All I needed from Dr. Fitzgerald was a signature on a medical letter of necessity, which my audiologist at WHC supplied to him. When I contacted your office for an appt back in November, both the audiologist and I laid out why I needed the new processor and explained the purpose of my meeting with Dr. Fitzgerald. When we met after a more than 2-week wait, he said he could not sign the letter because he no longer does implants. Fine. But why did he or the staff not tell us that back in November when we made the appt? Why did I waste several weeks waiting to see him? Why did I have to lose a morning of work to come trucking to WHC, only to learn he could not sign the letter? The delay is inexcusable because my current processor is malfunctioning and is unfixable.
Great physician, very knowledgeable !

He may have been the first to figure out my ongoing ear problem but his bedside manners need work! He wanted to cut a hole in my eardrum and put a tube under local anesthesia only, with which I wasn't comfortable. I told him I'd prefer not to be awake and he responded in a combative tone, "I'm not bringing you to the OR!" I have no contradictions to GA and have had it three times this past year with no problems. I continued to tell him how I felt but he just said i could take klonopin. I don't want to take klonopin because it won't make me unaware of what's going on and I'd rather have a professional sedate me. While I told him I'd think about it, there's no way I'm letting someone who doesn't respect my feelings to cut a hole in my ear. If you are extremely anxious like me, he's not the doc for you.
Wasn't very patient in answering questions.
