More about Dr. Dennis Cooper, MD

Dennis Cooper, M.D. joined Scottsdale Eye Physicians and Surgeons in 2023, bringing his own practice into the group. Dr. Cooper attended Washington University in St. Louis for Medical School. He graduated Medical School with Dr. Bill Kilpatrick! Dr. Cooper then did a year of Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in Cleveland. Subsequently he attended Case Western Reserve University for his basic science course and performed his ophthalmology residency at Mount Sinai Hospital where he was Chief Resident. As one of the first ophthalmologists to perform lens implants for cataracts in Ohio, he was a founding member of the American Intra-Ocular Implant Society, now known as ASCRS. Dr. Cooper served as a decorated Major in the US Army Medical Corps and grew to love the Southwest, which led him to Scottsdale at the same time as his Medical School colleague, Dr. Bill Kilpatrick! Dr. Cooper is an avid photographer and some of his work hangs in our office. In 2023 one of his photographs won a contest for Phoenix Magazine and was published; it shows a rainbow at dawn coming up from the depths of the Grand Canyon. Speaking of Phoenix Magazine, Dr. Cooper was named one of The Valley’s “Top Docs” multiple times. He learned to cook while raising his teenage sons solo and is happy to share recipes. He has a soft spot when it comes to animals but please don’t offer him any more.
