I am a board certified psychiatrist in private practice with Palisade Behavioral Care since 1985. I serve as the chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. I have been listed in the “Best Doctors in the New York Metropolitan Area” for several years by Castle Connolly. I was also chosen by my peers as the psychiatrist they would refer to in the National Consumer Survey. My psychiatry residency training was completed in England and a fellowship Consultation psychiatry in New York City. I have extensive experience in treatment of Anxiety, Depression, Panic Disorder, and Bipolar Disorder in an office setting.

I was very disappointed with my visit. Not only was my consult brief and interrupted but only after my time was waisted did i overhear them explain they don't even handle couples therapy as indicated when i booked my appointment in advance and also upon my arrival. It was a waist of my time and money only to be referred to a different office. I would have appreciated for the Dr to be upfront about what they can and cannot handle at that office and also his undivided attention as he answered a call during our very brief consult session. It was not worth the drive or full payment. However, the receptionist was very sweet and very helpful trying to help me find somewhere else to go to.

Dr. Kurani was courteous and very thorough. He took the time to discuss all of my possible treatment options before we agreed on the best plan. His staff was extremely nice and I was able to see the doctor as soon as I filled out the initial paperwork. Highly recommended!

I would highly recommend Dr. Kurani. He is the first psychiatrist I have ever seen who actually asked me questions about my personal and professional life. He gave me a game plan in our first session how he wants to see things executed and he gave me a full explanation of all medications we were considering, what their side effects were, and asked me my feelings on everything. He was great.
