Donna Swanson, Physician Assistant, has years of medical dermatology and surgery experience and is a great addition to our team. Donna has been working in dermatology since 2013 and enjoys treating a range of dermatological concerns including acne, rosacea, rashes, evaluating skin lesions and doing full skin exams. Anyone that sees Donna as a patient understands how thorough she is! She enjoys making a connection with patients of all ages and is grateful to be part of the team at Pure Dermatology. Donna is also proficient at treating patients with the lasers at Pure Dermatology.
Donna worked in surgery for 12 years in North Carolina and Northern Virginia prior to her work in dermatology. She worked in a hospital operating room and has extensive surgical experience in multiple surgical specialties including plastic surgery, general surgery, orthopedic, vascular, thoracic, neurosurgery and wound healing. This surgical experience facilitated her transition to dermatology as she could assist in complex closures for a Mohs surgeon in Virginia. Donna has found her perfect space in medicine – she loves dermatology and treating the patients at Pure Dermatology.
Donna Swanson, PA-C is originally from New Jersey, and completed her Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences at the University of Delaware where she served as an Army ROTC Cadet. After graduation, she was commissioned as an officer in the US Army. She served over 4 years of active duty in the Army and another 8 years in the Army Reserves. Donna earned her Master of Science in Medicine for Physician Assistant education in 2001 from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN and since then has been practicing as a certified Physician Assistant.
Donna is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, the Louisiana Academy of Physician Assistants, and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
