Dr. Doru Alexandrescu is Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology. He is also Board Certified in Oncology, Hematology and Internal Medicine. He is a graduate of the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Romania and the New York Medical College and the University of California at San Diego. Dr. Alexandrescu was Chief Resident of Internal Medicine at New York Medical College, and he completed an Internal Medicine Residency at St. Vincent’s and OLM Medical Centers in New York. He completed a fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology with a focus on skin cancers, which rendered him a Board Certified Medical Oncologist, with special expertise on skin cancers. Dr. Alexandrescu moved to San Diego because of the opportunity to do research and treat various dermatology issues such as melanomas and other skin diseases that tie into oncology and infectious disease. He completed a Fellowship in the most advanced dermatology treatments and clinical studies at the University of California at San Diego. His current practice of medicine is in Dermatology, having done his Residency training at UCSD, VA Hospital in La Jolla, Rady Children’s, and the Naval Hospital in San Diego. He has received numerous awards, scholarships and graduated in the top 1% of his class.
Dr. Alexandrescu uses cutting-edge therapies for the treatment of skin cancers, including medical and surgical modalities. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Mohs Surgery and an active investigator of surgical modalities in skin cancer.
He enjoys the sunshine and is delighted to be here and not in New York or Washington, DC. He enjoys music, art and dancing and was a former speed ice skating regional champion. He has already won the hearts and praise of his loyal patients.
