Dr. Abeles performs innovative minimally invasive surgeries of the spine, shoulder, knee, ankle and hand. He is among a handful of uniquely talented surgeons to perform highly technical surgeries resulting in less discomfort and faster recovery for the patient. He is also well versed in exploring all means of non-operative techniques designed to give the patient the best chance of healing without surgery if possible. Dr. Douglas Abeles has been in practice in the East Bay of Northern California for more than a decade, during which time he has performed over 4,000 procedures of various types with an excellent outcome and recovery rates. After surgery, the vast majority of patients who undergoe minimally invasive surgery are relieved of their pain in either lumbar herniated discs, rotator cuff tears, impingement syndrome, anterior cruciate ligament tears, meniscal tears and carpal tunnel syndrome. Dr. Abeles also performs more traditional spine, knee and shoulder surgeries which may have other indications and needs. Many of our patients are physically active and are involved in physical labor and various sports activities. Dr. Abeles is keenly aware of their need to return to their previous performance level and tries very hard to achieve it. Also, because of Dr. Abeles's reputation, many of his patients come from throughout the United States, as well as internationally. His staff is well versed in patient needs and also has compiled a team of other doctors in the practice that gives patients access to a multitude of specialties including orthopaedic joint replacement, neurology, physical therapy and chiropractic care.
